What I’m doing with my life
I get paid to be curious, and to help other people be curious. It's a lot of fun.
I’m really good at
Talking to people, making animals happy, baking, laughing, high-fives.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Kurt Vonnegut is consistently my answer to the standard "if you could X with anyone in history, who would it be" question. As long as X = something good, the answer is Kurt Vonnegut. Margaret Atwood and Timothy Findley are pretty great too.
Movies/TV: I loooove Wes Anderson, Baz Luhrmann, and Scorsese. I also love good documentaries, about things that are terrifying or amazing or both. Anything by Errol Morris makes that list.
As for music, it's hard to make a coherent list. I like nu/acid jazz, hip hop, classical, downtempo, folk, indie, and lots in between. Radiohead holds a very, very special place in my heart.
I could eat at Fresh (restaurant in Toronto) every. single. day. and be thrilled about it.
The six things I could never do without
animals (especially my two cats)
a reason to laugh
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why people do the things they do. But that makes me sound more
profound than I am. I just like thinking about (and talking about,
and reading about) human behaviour and cognition.
On a typical Friday night I am
Drinks with friends or a good documentary. Or both.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
You should message me if
You're pro-feminism and pro-Arrested Development.
You have a podcast to recommend, or you listen to Very Bad Wizards and want to talk about it.
You would never send a message like "hey you into couples" to a stranger on the internet.
