I am energetic, thoughtful, and funny.
My Self-Summary
People close to me probably describe me as a positive person who is
somewhat funny on the sarcastic side. So while I'm cracking wise, I
also like to figure out how best to resolve a situation or find a
solution to any problem.
Okay, that was the original paragraph, and it's basically true, but
come on--it sounds like I'm writing a personal essay for high
school. Ugh. So srsly. Who am I? Someone with a lot of friends,
who's generally pretty happy with her life, but would like to find
someone else to hang out and have fun with.
I work hard, have a lot of hobbies, and commit to far too many
things at once, but I enjoy being busy, so it's all good.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now, I'm out there exploring, learning who I am and what I
want in my job, my friends, and my relationships. And some of the
answers have been a bit surprising, even to me.
I'm looking forward to seeing what's around the next corner, and
can't in fact wait to get there. So BRING IT! :)
I’m really good at
Actually, I like to think of myself as a Jane of all trades, but
mistress of none. I know a little bit about a lot of things, but am
not what I’d call an expert at any of them. So I
run, though not fast, cook, but only
slightly gourmet, and
knit, but not perfectly. And that’s
actually okay with me. I prefer having a variety of interests, and
am always looking for new things to learn and places to
explore.
Oh, and I should mention: I'm a bit of a geek. A little
programming, a little graphics, some design, like that.
The first things people usually notice about me
You’d have to ask the folks who know me, but I’m guessing that my
sense of
humor,
energy, and generally upbeat attitude would be tops on their list.
I like to think of myself as friendly and outgoing, and always
hoping to help out where I can.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: I like to read all kinds of things, including fiction and
non-fiction. Fiction authors I enjoy include fantasy authors such
as David Eddings, science fiction from Ben Bova or Philip K. Dick,
Mystery from the likes of Martha Grimes and Jonathan Kellerman, and
classics from folks such as Jane Austen, Anthony Trollope, or
Elizabeth Gaskell. I have only recently come to like nonfiction
such as Seth Godin (Tribes), Clay Shirky (Here Comes Everybody) and
Malcolm Gladwell (Blink). But these I really enjoy! Right now I'm
listening the the audio version of Tribal Leadership, and it's been
riveting.
Movies: I like all kinds of science fiction and fantasy films such
as Harry Potter, The Matrix movies, and any of the large
blockbusters like Lord of the Rings or the X-Men films. I also like
a lot of comedy (anything to create laughter is good). Favorites
there include anything with Jon Cusack (Grosse Pointe Blank, High
Fidelity), Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, and American Pie,
some drama (I adored Dead Again), and some foreign films (like
Amelie).
Music: This is probably the most eclectic part of me. I like
popular stuff like Daughtry and Nickelback, Black-Eyed Peas and
Natasha Bedingfield. On the more folk/
singer-songwriter side I
love Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek, Kris Delmhorst, Shawn Colvin, and
Lucy Kaplansky. On the hard-rock/other side I like Evanescence,
Tori Amos, Sarah McLaughlan, and The Weepies.
The six things I could never do without
Six, if I'm pushing it, would include my kids, kitties, friends,
family, the Internet, and my smart phone--a DROID, as of today.
w00t! :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The interesting ways the world is changing, how organizations are
meeting (or not) that challenge, and what the heck I might need to
cook for dinner tonight.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends listening to jazz or other live music, knitting at
home, or
hanging out online.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Got nuthin'.
You should message me if
You're not intimidated by strong-minded, nerdy women. :)
