I am awesome, warm, and silly.

My Self-Summary

Here are a number of important things to know about me, though they may seem a bit disjointed:

I love singing, reading, talking, hugging, and laughing, and I do all of those things pretty much all the time. Especially laugh. I am a coffee drinker. I just ran my first half marathon (go me!)! I am a Jew. I love taking my dog on long walks, and I sometimes talk to her like she's a person. My grandmother taught me how to crochet, and I have made my very own afghan. I've been a vegetarian since I was 10 (I think it's fair to say that it's a lifestyle, at this point), and I have a CSA. I can be pretty silly, and my deadpan is terrible. Really, I can't keep a straight face.

When I was younger, I used to tell people that my favorite color was sparkles... it kind of still is.

What I’m doing with my life

Graduate student. MA/MBA. I loves the non-profits, and really hope to make some sort of impact (cheesy, perhaps. Doable? Totally).

I’m really good at

quoting Flight of the Conchords in every day conversation, baking and cooking, changing the way my laugh sounds, silly walking, adventures. I also really love singing and harmonizing (I'm that guy that harmonizes to the radio. It's probably really annoying).

I'll admit something I'm bad at, too, just for the sake of cyber-honesty: I am so bad at directions. Never let me tell you how to get anywhere, because chances are you will not end up where you want to be. And I will be confused.

The first things people usually notice about me

I laugh a lot, at pretty much everything. One major exception: dead baby jokes. Not funny. Otherwise, though, laughing seems to be a pretty natural state for me. Maybe I should try laughter yoga...

Also, I wear plastic-y glasses. And my teeth are pretty straight. Oh, and curly hair.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Ender's Game, Harry Potter, Catcher in the Rye, Bridge to Terabithia, The Golden Compass, Still Life with Woodpecker, Emma, The Little Prince, The Big Friendly Giant, Jane Eyre

I also like almost anything by David Sedaris

Movies: When Harry Met Sally, Royal Tenenbaums, Meet Me in St. Louis, Annie Hall, Princess Bride, Sister Act, Best in Show

TV: Buffy, Flight of the Conchords, the Office, Freaks and Geeks

Music: Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Sam Cooke, Rufus Wainwright, Cake. I should admit that I have been to both a Boyz II Men concert AND a Hanson concert this year. Go ahead, judge away. Seriously, though, they were so fun.

The six things I could never do without

I don't like this question-- I like to think that I could do without most "things." I'm not sure if it's actually true or not.

Instead, here are 6 things I think are really awesome:

1. pirates
2. robots
3. ninjas
4. dinosaurs
5. spaceships
6. wizzards (extra z for extra magical)

I know all these things are really trendy right now...

I spend a lot of time thinking about

identity, religion, non-profits and other institutions, and how they all relate. How to care for people, and about people. How to be a good person, whatever that means.

Also, I spend a lot of time thinking about circles. Circles are definitely the best shape.

On a typical Friday night I am

Friday nights are friends/family night. Dinner, singing, wine drinking... it's awesome. Saturday nights are going out nights. And those nights, well, I could be doing anything.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

This isn't private, but it is an interesting fact. I once met the president of Taiwan. He gave me a watch.

You should message me if

- you are made of awesome
- you have super powers
- you can pun with the best of them
- you have a plan to rule the world, or change it
- you like adventures

or, you know, just in general if you want to. I would be ok with that.
