My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a insomniac who is open-minded, for the most part. I'm generally happy without being annoyingly cheerful. I'm somewhat spontaneous and idealistic- but realistically know that I can't completely change the world. I often daydream about terraforming nearby planets, re-engineering DNA, or bringing the intelligence to artificial intelligence--computers or Bush supporters. I have a strange sense of humor and I'm pretty laid back. I enjoy having a drink with my friends, and dancing at the clubs occasionally, reading an old classic or scientific literature, attempting to do something creative (build things, annoy the neighbors with my guitar, or make a mess with some paint), and listening to music constantly. I can fix cars and make a mean lasagna. Don't mess with an angry lasagna!

I am undermodest, genuine, and fun-loving
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Growing up and finding balance. I just recently moved to D.C. for a job promotion, and I'm now the lead Microsoft System Engineer for a global corporation. My Legos have been replaced with I.T. architecture. Erecktor sets are fun, but so are blade servers and business solutions.

And while, I'm very serious about my career- I'm just as focused with my personal life. I surround myself with good people, and I certainly like to let my hair down. And I like to use idioms.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Fixing computers and mechanical things, cooking, learning, listening, being funny, procrastinating, making friends, making conversation, and teaching one-on-one. Telling embellished narrative stories- think Austen Burroughs lite.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Often the first thing I hear from strangers is "Are you from Kentucky?" No, I'm not from Kentucky, but my father was from KY. Oddly, the accent skipped a generation.
I have a fantastic ability to mis-enunciate many complicated words such as 'creek', 'Kant', and 'oil'.
People tend to find it funny and disarming, so I digress.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Bell Jar by Plath, Anything by David Sedaris or Brett Easton Ellis, The Stranger by Camus, The Metamorphosis by Kafka, The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Tolstoy, Confessions by Rousseau, Candide by Voltaire. These are all books I read and enjoyed, not something I'm listing to sound pretentious. I enjoy reading psychology, biology, and computer science books as well.
Movies: Donnie Darko, Happiness, Storytelling, Fight Club, Lost in Translation, Dr. Stangelove (anything by Kubrick), and Fargo. And who can forget Puddie Tang?
Music: Modest Mouse, Pinback, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Decemberists, Grandaddy, David Bowie, Electic Light Orchestra, REM, A Perfect Circle, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Echo and the Bunnymen, Rufus Wainwright.
I'm the type of person who listens to Marilyn Manson one minute, and James Taylor the next.
Foods: Pseudo-Italian and Psuedo-Mexican food. (Tex-Mex).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Air, water, food, heat, love, and self-actualization?

Hey, I'm arrogant... So why do I have to play by the rule of six?

My friends & family
Comedy- Thank you George Carlin and David Cross.
My music collection.
My books.
Love.
The optimism to think that everything might just work out in the end after all, and the logic to realize that it probably won't.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
OkCupid says I'm arrogant. Can we rename that something light and fluffy like the clear skies act? Instead of arrogant, I'm UNDERMODEST or nearly-unpretentious. I really don't care about labels, and I find it amusing that I was immediately defensive about the characture.

I'm full of shit most of the time, but as I like to joke - I really am the most modest person I know.

I'm avoiding the question, I guess.. so...
* how to meet a cool guy who isn't too slutty.
* what I want to accomplish in my lifetime.
* where I'd like to live next.
* societal problems
* when I'm going to make time to play music or write more.
* politics - and generally being disappointed by both parties.
* adventurous new things to do.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either working on school stuff, drinking, entertaining people with my antics, or contemplating the world's problems.
Sometimes I'm just home reading a book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I used to identify Republican. (Yes, I bought into the fiscal-responsibility / contract with America bullshit )

I wish we had a socially progressive / fiscally responsible party. Neither party seems the latter, these days.

It's 4 am... You're bored and can make interesting conversation... You find me interesting... You think I'm an idiot. You're certain I'm your soul mate... You're certain I'm the anti-christ. Your hormones are raging... (Oxytocin?) You're hungry... You're out to save my soul from damnation. To be quite honest, I'd rather hear about you than ramble on about myself. Give me a shout.
