Just got paroled and looking to meet some new...(what?!...sorry, couldn't resist.) But seriously, folks:

I sing, write, and record songs; I also play (and dance around with a) tuba in a gypsy-punk-circus band. I get to travel a lot. I have a college degree completely unrelated to what I currently do. Came to NYC at the impressionable age of 19 from NJ (super original, I know) for some schoolin'. Brooklyn has been homebase for almost a decade now. I ride my bike everywhere (whoa, also super original, right?) and have a Volkswagen named Patricia. She's a bitch and I love her madly. There's more to the story but might as well leave a little mystery for now.

Also, I once drove with six friends in a rented van almost non-stop from Brooklyn to Northern Alaska and swam in the Arctic Ocean at Prudhoe Bay. It took six days to get there. We swam for 15 minutes, ate dinner, and then drove back home.

1. Playing a lot of music. Mostly tuba. Touring and recording quite a bit. I am loving every second of it.

2. Occasionally still working for the man (gainful, soul sucking employment blah blah blah) while paying off the very last of my student loan debt!

3. Thinking about the future.

Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy.

I have natural blonde streaks in my otherwise dark brown hair (a birthmark basically), so if you are at least as tall as I am and can see the back of my head, you'll probably ask: "is that natural, or do you dye your hair?"

George Carlin is my spirit animal (Carl Sagan is a close runner-up). Forever obsessed with Dylan's Romance in Durango (the Rolling Thunder Review version), Cold Cold Ground by Tom Waits, Wu Tang's entire 36 Chambers, and this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhVdLd43bDI)!!!!!!!!!!! I also really want to go see the new production of Rigoletto at the Met. I listen to a lot of NPR (Radiolabbbbbb!) and baseball games on the radio when on the road. Bill Murray in Where the Buffalo Roam absolutely slays me. So does Harpo Marx. Woody Allen, with a few notable exceptions. The Big Lebowski, Network, Dr. Strangelove, Fletch, Casablanca, and The Cruise (if you don't know, now you know... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdFlhZtKOMQ) are a few movies that are worth mentioning. I'm currently reading a biography of Hunter S. Thompson. A few books that have really stuck with me over the years: Guns, Germs, & Steel, The Divided Mind, Into the Wild, Catch 22, Our Man in Havana, anything Vonnegut and George Saunders, and (ahem...judge away!) The Fountainhead. I eat a lot of Avocado. Some day I hope get enough free time to catch up on the last few seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm and see the new Arrested Development.

Other stuff too. (I'm well rounded. I promise.)

-four of my fingers (including a thumb).
-at least one toe.
-dental floss (Meticulous dental hygiene is key to maintaining a clean tuba.)

going to graduate school.

Also, wanting to learn how to make homemade bio-diesel for my lovely Volkswagon.

And wishing I could disappear for two weeks or so to drive out to Montana to hang out with my little brother.

Here are a few gems:
-Last year I was hired to record tuba on an album of novelty songs about Star Trek and Dr. Who (never watched the trek and haven't seen Dr. Who since I was little...I got very few of the jokes)
-In college, I worked at Fox News Channel. It was weird (and really insightful).
-I'm left-handed. Deal with it.
-I don't really speak Other.
