My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a pretty straightforward, honest guy. I'm a deep thinker and a bit of a dreamer. I'm very much an introvert, in all of the good, and some of the bad ways :) I can be a bit of a cynic, but that makes me love bright, sunny, ray of sunshine personality traits in others. I follow the news and current events, and I'm very informed. I read a lot, I hate commercials and advertising.

I'm looking for someone that wants to do hang-outish things. Watch some movies, go book or record shopping, maybe see a band at a dive bar, shoot some pool, get dinner, or even better, cook dinner together. Take a road trip somewhere to do all of the above. You know, the normal boyfriend/girlfriend stuff.

I've recently acquired a small potted lemon tree. I've named it George. It has a ton of little lemons on, but I'm afraid that they won't ripen before I have to start keeping it indoors, heh.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently, a plethora of home improvement projects. I'm repainting the basement walls and floors with water sealing paint and making it nice. Bathroom remodel imminent, heh. I've recently started collecting records, so I could use a pal to go hunt through shops and then come home and listen to the fruits of our search!

Planning my next road trip. Last year was Colorado. Next I feel I need to pilgrimage to my rock gods holy land and hit up Seattle and explore Oregon and Washington a little.

Getting settled into my new position. My very first own private office with a door that has my name on it that I can close. Holy shitballs I feel like Prince Joffrey.

Analog Dreams.

"Take the thing that you love and make it your life." I'm not there yet, but I'm trying to move in that direction.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Following thoughts, ideas and plans through to their ultimate logical conclusion. Want to know the fatal flaw in your best laid plans? I'm your man. Need someone to see clearly through the huckster sales pitch and spot the scam? That's me. I'm very good at grasping the big picture, and understanding what's fucking it up.

I have a really good memory. I mean it, I'll remember small details that will amaze, amuse and infuriate you.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Physically: Tall, broad shoulders, I'm wearing shorts even though its 25 degrees outside(I grew up in south Florida, so pants are anathema to me), sometimes longer, sometimes shorter shaggy hair, random band shirt, a bit chubby, could stand to lose a few(and have been, thanks to do my doctor making me, lol) :)

Talking to me: open, literate, sharp, witty, sarcastic, sardonic, funny. My sister in law has described me as "ominous" and I kind of like it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
There are few deal breakers for me, but I really love: Nirvana, Soundgarden, Kyuss, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Pixies, and Iron Maiden. Star Trek TNG, Firefly, Friends, Twin Peaks!!, 3rd Rock From the Sun, Portlandia, It's Always Sunny, The X-Files, Californication and LouieCK. Most everything on the BBC. High Fidelity, Singles, Empire Records, The Big Lebowski. Grilled things and Ceasar Salad.

I'm a big reader, with a ravenous habit. I don't really like the new bookless universe, but I've succumbed to owning a kindle after losing my 500+ book collection in a storage wars snafu. Luckily like 90% of my collection is available there. I have to admit that it's a very convenient format to read that is suuuuuper easy on the eyes, especially in the dark.(paperwhite!). Some favorites: HP Lovecraft, Fritz Leiber, Heinlein, Robert Jordan(Wheel of Time), Edgar Allen Poe, Asimov, Hemingway, Douglas Adams.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Had to quit caffeine, which was at least 33% of my list. Under construction.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Politics, news, current events. Guitars. Music. Ethics. Pretty girls, science and tech, paleoanthropology, paleoclimatology. The Pacific Northwest and how I long to relocate there.

I spend a lot of time thinking about business ideas and plans, potential inventions and products, solutions to problems we don't know exist. My "survive any possible emergency kit" to take on my big road trip. Burial at sea.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Compulsively watching Captain Ron and trying to figure out how to bring my burial-at-sea themed funeral service business idea to fruition.

Reaffirming my sexual orientation, autosexual, I only fuck myself.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm writing a grunge/ stoner rock song about giraffes.

After many years and much wailing and gnashing of teeth, I've come to realize that maybe for the most part I'm ok with myself, and maybe not as far off from the person I would have chosen to be as a younger me as I thought, though maybe not as pretty or as thin as I would like, lol(and hey, I've lost 75+lbs in the last year, so making great progress)

You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You should message me if you are the real deal. Independent but emotionally available. Kind and smart but not pretentious.

You want to do hang outy things. Go to the movies, stay in and watch movies, cook dinner or go get some. Road trip somewhere for a weekend, just to get away from here. Shoot some pool or find a dive bar with a band playing and rock out. It's getting close to autumn and time for autumn things, long drives to look at leaves, little local festivals, etc.

Thought I would add a few pet peeve phrases:

"It is what it is" - semantically null phrase, and I'm a nonviolent person, but this one makes me want to go on a Reaver-like throat tearing binge.

"Work hard, play hard" - usually used to justify rampant alcoholism in adults who should know better

Things I'm not even slightly interested in: OSU/any football, Jesusy things.
