My self-summary
I'm sincere, friendly but honest. I guess you could describe me as "low-key." I'm not judgmental, but I'm not afraid to speak my mind. I'm rational and I appreciate a good sense of humor. I'm passionate about my interests, and tend to gravitate toward people who feel similarly. In terms of personality, I've had more than a few friends say that I most resemble Larry David on "Curb Your Enthusiasm." So, brace yourself...

I'm probably one of those pinko liberal secular male feminist types that those right-wing AM radio and FOX News pundits warned you about, but I follow reason before any political ideology. (I can't help it if reality has a liberal bias, however...)

LIKES: Film, documentaries, art, animation, nature, science, thinking, good conversation.

DISLIKES: Superficiality, willful ignorance, superstition, and fruit in cookies.

For what it's worth, I've met or have had a conversation with Tim Burton, Werner Herzog, Noam Chomsky, Lawrence Krauss, Spike Jonze, Maureen Gosling, Louise Erdrich, Les Blank, James Earl Jones, Kelly Reichardt, Al Franken, Pete Docter (Pixar's director of "Monsters, Inc." and "Up"), Michael Moore, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Pharrell Williams, Bill Plympton, Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, David Liebe Hart, James Quall, Tommy Wiseau, and Greg Sistero.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working as a post-production supervisor and editor for a documentary film and media production company in Brooklyn.

Also just finished up a project of my own: a feature-length documentary about the greatest animated film never made. Now doing the film festival thing. It's been a big project. Filming has taken me to London, Toronto, and New York. I've met a lot of fascinating people, and it's been an exciting journey about an amazing, tragic, and largely unknown story of art, obsession, and dreams.

I recently finished reading "Watership Down" by Richard Adams and "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole.

Movies that I've seen recently and was impressed with:
Dogtooth (2009)
Nights of Cabiria (1957)
Marwencol (2010)
Unfaithfully Yours (1948)
The Gold Rush (1925)
Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)
The Spirit of the Beehive (1973)
Total Recall (1990)
I’m really good at
...being myself?

I suppose at some creative stuff, and good conversation.

Also, I make a mad-good batch of chocolate chip cookies. They're worth bragging about.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes. I know that sounds like a cliché, but people never seem to know exactly what color they are.

My hair. Barbers are always complimenting me on its thickness and softness. It tends to be fairly voluminous, too.

My infectious and strong laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Last Chance to See, The Old Man and the Sea, The God Delusion, Jurassic Park, Our Dumb World, The Timewaster Letters, Red Strangers, Watership Down. Some of my favorite authors include Louise Erdrich, Jhumpa Lahiri, Edgar Allen Poe, Billy Collins, Richard Dawkins, Joe Brainard, Christopher Hitchens, and Carl Sagan.

MOVIES: Too many to list.
Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands)
Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man, Aguirre the Wrath of God, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Stroszek)
Stanley Kubrick (2001: A Space Odyssey, Dr. Strangelove, Barry Lyndon)
Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho, Rear Window, North by Northwest)
Billy Wilder (The Apartment, Some Like It Hot, Sunset Blvd.)
Charlie Chaplin (City Lights, Modern Times, The Gold Rush)
Terrence Malick (Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Tree of Life)
Also:
animation, documentaries, Vincent Price movies, There Will Be Blood, Network, Man with a Movie Camera, Fantasia, Jurassic Park, Duck Soup, and The Room.

TV: The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, King of the Hill, Louie, Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Twilight Zone (original), Mad Men, South Park, The Office (original UK version), Strangers with Candy, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, David Attenborough nature documentaries. I also recently finished Firefly, and that was pretty impressive.

MUSIC: A whole lot of different genres and styles. Classical, film scores, metal, classic rock, opera, early jazz, and some guilty pleasure pop. If you were to put my iPod on shuffle, you just might hear Danny Elfman, Dethklok, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Louis Armstrong, and Chet Baker one after the other.

FOOD: Chinese, Thai, Mexican, American, Japanese, pizza, seafood, and chocolate chip cookies. If pizza is the food of the gods, then Brooklyn is Mount Olympus.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whatever project I'm currently working on
Art
Science
Humanity
The universe

Also, how the hell Peter Serafinowicz is so massively underrated.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with friends and socializing, going to a show or movie, or working on a project.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't whistle. It's lame, I know.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You're interested, if you like anything I mentioned here, or just want to know more. Give it a shot.

If the names Werner Herzog, Danny Elfman, Charles Darwin, Karl Pilkington, or Larry David provoke a positive reaction in you, or if you watch movies that are older than you are, bonus points for you.

Living in the NYC boroughs also helps.

I may message you, but don't hesitate to message me first. Gotta admit, I like a woman with some chutzpah.
