My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
First and foremost, I am the father of a beautiful eight year old little girl (custodial). And with that, I realize I've probably spooked most of the audience.

I'm pretty up front about my thoughts and opinions...not in an offensive way (unless you're uber sensitive), but I don't sugar coat it either. I do make snarky comments from time to time. I have a penchant for getting up on my soap box and I like to poke the bear. And I realize that comes across as making me sound like an arrogant jerk - I'm really not. I'm just passionate about my opinions.

I have a macabre, cynical, dry, sarcastic, unapologetic and somewhat geeky sense of humor, sometimes abrasive and most often not politically correct. I try to find humor in (most) anything (jokes or subjects involving hurting kids are off limits). I'd love to find someone who "got" my sense of humor. I love to laugh and make other people laugh.

I do have a hang up with grammar and punctuation. Poor grammar makes me cringe. Please don't ever say "I seen". Just don't. Also, a PSA: u, r, n and y...these are letters to form words. These are NOT words. The More You Know.

I'm not a huge fan of going out...I'm somewhat of an introvert. Once in awhile is fun, but it's the exception instead of the rule. I can be fairly shy (and overwhelmed) in crowds, and tend to get slightly claustrophobic in that type of atmosphere. Smaller, more intimate gatherings (think 2-4 ish people) are more of my cup of tea (which I also like - tea that is).

My ideal match would fill the empty seat next to the firepit on a Friday night, help me finish the bottle of wine, listen to my soapbox moments or laugh hysterically at silly inside jokes. But also be someone with whom I can have a deep, philosophical, intelligent conversation with. Or even better, an in-depth semi-serious conversation about silly things. People are too serious and worried about what others think to let their inner child loose.

I'm pretty picky, and not looking to date just for the sake of dating. I'd really like to find someone with long term potential. Someone I can call my best friend.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have a great job that I love. Not one to make me the next millionaire, but it supports my daughter and I and I enjoy doing it. Heck, I'd probably keep doing it if I were to suddenly become a millionaire.

Beyond that, I'm just trying to be the best dad I can to an incredible little girl and hoping I can one day turn her into a productive member of society.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

I'm fairly atypical of a guy my age. I don't like sports...at all. I'd much rather go work in my yard than watch a boring football game.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I like a variety of shows, some of my favorites include Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, Eureka, The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. I loved LOST when it was on. Breaking Bad was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I've recently started watching Perception. Also, Monty Python and MST3K. I'll always love those. Sometimes it's fun to apply the MST3K treatment to other movies as well...I'd love to find someone who would find the humor in that.

I'm a pretty big sci-fi fan as well, so the triumvirate of Star Trek, Star Wars and Stargate applies (as well as Farscape, Doctor Who - The classic, not the Hipster reboot, Firefly, etc). Really though I love movies in general, in pretty much any genre. I'd like to think I'm well rounded in that respect.
I also love dry humor, satire and black comedies (think Burn After Reading, Grosse Pointe Blank, Fargo, Big Trouble, My Fellow Americans and Wag the Dog to name a few). Anything by the Cohen brothers or Tarantino.

Music, I mostly listen to 80s rock - hair bands and such (Poison, GNR, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, Kiss, etc.) I LOVE power ballads...I also like classical and movie scores -anything by John Williams...he is an amazing composer.

My favorite book of all time is Ender's Game (really the entire Ender/Shadow series), the movie was meh at best though. Empire/Hidden Empire duet, also by Orson Scott Card. 1984 by George Orwell. The Chronicles of Narnia (all seven!) by C.S. Lewis. The Hobbit/LOTR by J.R.R. Tolkien.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My Daughter
My Phone
My Car
My House
A good job
A good seat on the patio
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why water expands when it freezes while virtually every other known liquid contracts when frozen (Mercury being the other oddity).

Are the Indiana Jones movies just Han Solo's dreams while frozen in carbonite?

What is the answer to life, the universe and everything?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
As I have my daughter, it's mostly Disney movies and popcorn, or making S'Mores by the fire on the patio (did I mention how much I love sitting by the fire?).

Basically, being a mature and responsible person. No partying, no debauchery...just the 'boring' life of a person responsible for another.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I've recently developed an obsession for tea.

I'm a huge advocate for father's rights.

Thanks to my lovely daughter, I probably know more about Disney princesses than a lot of the target demographic.

I'm an ISTJ personality type (Google it if you're interested).

I can be a bit neurotic at times.

And I'm pretty much an open book, I'll answer just about any question posed to me.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You like something you've seen in my profile.

You're interested in intelligent and sparkling conversation.

You can use proper grammar.

You have a sense of humor (or humour if you're wearing a monocle). If you can't let loose and have fun, be silly and laugh...I feel sorry for you. To quote a movie "Don't take life too seriously, you'll never get out alive"

Every Friday/Saturday night does not revolve around a bar or club.

You are looking for a meaningful (potentially long-term) relationship and not just a hook-up.

You love (or at least tolerate) kids, as my daughter and I come as a package deal. This one is especially important, she's not going anywhere for at least the next eleven years. I'm not looking for a mother figure, but realize I'm a dad first.
