What I’m doing with my life
Currently working on a research study that works with breast cancer survivors. It's pretty great when it isn't the BIGGEST DOWNER IN THE WORLD. All over I'm pretty happy here, though.

I also plan on going back to school next year, applications pending. Oh how I loves me some science.
I’m really good at
skipping this section. Look at me go!
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm brown. Sometimes I make funny faces. If I'm around you long enough, I will actively attempt to weird you out or at least make you laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Nick Hornby, George Carlin, Robert Jordan, John Green. I know that I need to read more and am very open to suggestions. Currently trying my best to finish Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and the ASoIaF series.

Movies: High Fidelity, Kevin Smith movies, Guy Ritchie movies, depending on my mood Wes Anderson films, The Dark Knight, most of the movies that were on Comedy Central when I was growing up. I don't watch enough movies anymore.

TV: The Wire, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Community, HIMYM, Archer, The Walking Dead, The League, New Girl, Workaholics, Game of Thrones, Louie, Arrested Development, BSG, Sports Night, The West Wing, Freaks and Geeks, The Legend of Korra, Adventure Time. I also recently met one of the executive producers of Farscape and he was basically the coolest person I've ever met, so I'm probably going to watch his show soon.

Music: Ted Leo, Ben Folds, Fun., The Format, Incubus, Bayside, The Hush Sound, Elliott Smith, Ozma, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, The Decemberists, Bad Books, Rilo Kiley, The Arctic Monkeys, Silverchair, Knife Party, SSLYBY, Darwin Deez, Walk the Moon. If you see something you think I should listen to, TELL ME.

Food: All of it. I'll try anything, and I'll probably enjoy it. I love exploring cuisines and trying my hand at cooking them whenever I can. I also love cooking with other people.
The six things I could never do without
1) I don't consider family and friends 'things,' but I'll put this up here so you don't think I'm a sociopath. There is simply no substitute for people that you can trust.
2) A gym, or at least heavy things that I could use for the same purpose. I've kind of become a gymrat over the last few years, and I've enjoyed it immensely. I did the whole fat-to-fit transformation by eating less and moving more. Shocking, I know.
3) Good conversation. I really enjoy talking with and listening to people, whether it's an empassioned debate on science or politics, or dissecting language, or just shooting the shit. I think communication is probably the coolest habit that humans have picked up.
4) Something to learn. If something can hold my interest long enough to warrant more than a cursory Googling, I'll end up spending entirely too long learning as much as I can about it. I have spent countless days and nights on Wikipedia and felt confusingly accomplished about it.
5) Something to accomplish. I'm fairly goal-oriented and I feel a very particular attraction to progressing or being a part of progress. There's nothing quite like completing a project or reaching a goal that has taken months or years of work/dedication.
6) Computer+Internet. I'm a big damned nerd and not having the Internet would pretty severely hamper my ability to learn all of the things. My love of accomplishing things and my love of Reddit are really at odds.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Science, language, interpersonal relationships, how to improve myself, which actions have caused which consequences and what can be learned from that. I try my best to be thoughtful and thorough with the data life provides and draw conclusions as well as I'm able.

And food. I think about food a lot.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends at a bar or staying in with friends watching tv or a movie. I enjoy wandering; some of my most enjoyed evenings have started by driving around aimlessly and stopping at a place I thought looked interesting.

The occasional do-nothing-evening to myself isn't unheard of, though.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once broke both of my heels by running off of a middle school. It was an accident. I was completely sober.

Also, I went to Burning Man this year and it was the best adventure I've ever had.

I've been actively trying to remove fear from my life, and it's been mostly deeply satisfying but also really fucking scary.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–30
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you are kind and generous and find these qualities to be their own reward. Or if you really like adventures. Or if you want to split a pizza and hold hands.

Really, if you're at all interested in knowing more about me or just feel like talking, I strongly encourage it. Tell me a story or ask me to tell you one.
