I am new, improved, and water-resistant.

My Self-Summary

Wow, what a coincidence -- I am also free, fun, and smart, just like OkCupid!

I really like doing things that indicate I am athletic, and conversations that demonstrate I am intelligent and well-read. Also long walks in varied terrain. I spend my free time writing self-deprecating jokes about not being a very good cook.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a PhD student doing some mad science that I think is a lot of fun, but I don't have a problem leaving that at the office when I go home. I lived in Boston for a few years after college before moving to NYC last year. I like it here, meeting people, trying out new restaurants, seeing random new indie bands, and wandering aimlessly around the city.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Yes, everyone is supposed to be able to rattle off a list of their favorites, but it turns out I'm not good at that. At the moment in my playlist is Muse, The National, Radiohead, and Pedro the Lion. On the table next to me is Stephen Colbert's book. I read the NYTimes and follow a few political blogs, and anything Paul Krugman writes.

The six things I could never do without

Why six?

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I own a banjo. But in my defense it's been a while since I picked it up, and I'm pretty awful. (Or does that just make it worse?)

You should message me if

you can explain to me why every girl seems to list "good grammar" as a key requirement. What held this position before we had the internet?
