I am random, caring, and nerdy.

My Self-Summary

I would describe myself as a fairly random person that is smart and caring. I have recently moved to Riverside from Michigan, and am looking for new friends and possibly something romantic. I enjoy movies, board games, and video games, among other things. My favorite movie right now is Saved!, I feel that the representation of absolute faith was very interesting. My favorite board game is RISK and my favorite video game depends on the situation, but right now it is Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii. I enjoy crafts as well. I have been cross-stitching since I was 7 and love it. I recently learned out to knit and quilt.

I also enjoy riding my bicycle around. I was forced into a bicycle-only situation for a summer and have been trying to ride as much as I can since then. Currently, I am trying to get back in shape... But sometimes life gets in the way and I don't do as much as I would like with this area of my life. I like reading a large variety of books for both professional growth and just because. I have recently finished the Harry Potter series and have read almost every John Grisham book. Some of the more serious books that I enjoy are mostly related to LGBT or social justice issues. I enjoy theater, musicals, orchestras, museums, etc. as well. I <3 the Panteges Theater and typically go to 4-6 shows a year there :-).

I <3 Apple Computer. My friend and I used to hate them, but checked out the company one year and I have loved them ever since. I did an internship for them in the summer of 2004 and absolutely enjoyed it, though it also helped me decide that Computer Science is not the field for me to work in. I follow Apple news very closely and am a really big Apple fan-girl. I recently got an Apple tattoo on my hip and love it. I do enjoy tattoos and piercings and am currently checking into a new tattoo on the back of my neck, still not sure what to get though.

I identify as transgender and at this point in my life, my identity is very important to me. I began hormones in Feb 2007 and began living full time as a woman in the summer of 2006. I have some really great friends and coworkers that are very supportive of me and if you aren't supportive and knowledgeable or willing to learn, please do not bother contacting me. I am not super uptight about it, but in exchange for my respect, I expect yours.

I am not looking for a date or romantic connection with a man right now. I am only interested in dating women. If you are a man and feel like we could be friends, go ahead and message me, but please do not have sneaky motives.

What I’m doing with my life

I currently work at the University of California, Riverside in the field of student affairs. This is the area of work at the university that is not in the classroom (e.g., residence halls, career counseling, academic advising, etc.). I would like to begin my PhD in the next 2-3 years and eventually become a professor in the field of higher education. I enjoy the areas of identity development and student support.

I have not had too much time to figure out my personal side of life and have begun to put a larger focus on meeting new people. I am investigating some new ways to meet people and hope to make some good friends and possibly more.

I’m really good at

I am really good being random. I love taking trips to LA or wherever on a whim. I once spent an entire day looking for a regular Ann Taylor store. I enjoy cooking a lot and consider myself to be pretty good, though I am not a fan of cooking for one person. I am really good at Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., and Mario Party. I also play the viola and am looking to get involved with a local quartet or orchestra. I can give some pretty killer massages too. I have renewed my Disney pass and want to find a park-buddy.

I am also finding that I am good at saying inappropriate things in awkward situations to make them either super awkward or totally normal.

The first things people usually notice about me

People generally notice my eyes first. They are a radiant blue/green color that will change depending on what I am wearing. Additionally, I am a very friendly person and people generally get along with me really well. I am also really tall.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Harry Potter series, Wicked, anything by John Grisham, Kurt Vonnegut, LGBT and social justice books.

Movies: Saved!, Save the Last Dance, Harry Potter, The Last Samurai, Shakespeare in Love, Imagine Me and You, Little Miss Sunshine, Chasing Amy, Dodgeball, High School Musical 1 & 2.

Music: Evanescence, Chevelle, Thrice, Linkin Park, Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, 30 Seconds to Mars, Incubus, Musicals of most types, Sara Bareilles., Paramore

TV: Glee!!!, 24, House, So You Think You Can Dance, Greek

Food: Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, random hole-in-the-wall places. I am starting to explore fine dining more, I just wish I had more money for it.

The six things I could never do without

1. my parents/family
2. my education
3. my faith
(I don't want people to think I am crazy religious-right with my faith. it is a fairly private thing for me and I am a full supporter of all different types of belief/lack of belief, as long as you are not a complete dick)
4. my cat
5. my technoloy... including my iMac computer, iPhone, tv, and video games.
6. my books

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Social Justice and community. I wonder how I fit in this world and how can I make a difference. I feel that I am connected to so many people in so many ways that it is a strong obligation to do the little steps to further everyone.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out, watching a movie, or playing games.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Hmmm, the gender thing is kinda private, but I have already talked about it... So... I used to have a mole on my back that changed sizes as a kid, but it is normal now... (speaking of random)

You should message me if

You want a new friend or someone to just chat with. You need to be open minded and ok with my transgender identity. You should be fun and random and enjoy life. I am really looking for some new friends and possibly more.
