I am snide, thoughtful, and oblivious.
My Self-Summary
I am a
cynical
pessimistic idealist
computer geek (but I'm really not
like all the others... :-). I was a
helpless romantic in my
youth, and you can still see shards of it embedded in the
cynicism.
I can blather about many topics, and even know what I'm talking
about when it comes to a couple. I'm also good at shutting up and
listening.
I have a tendency to be
sarcastic, my sense of humor can get
very dark, but I can also get very silly when I'm in a good mood.
What I’m doing with my life
Staying out of the way of people who are actually going
somewhere.
I am a professional computer geek. I am learning
jiu-jitsu on the side. I am
casually interested in
photography. I read a lot. When my
friends are organized enough, (which is rare) I play tabletop RPGS.
When they're not, I play videogames. Sometimes I fiddle with my
car.
I’m really good at
geeking with computers. Remembering random trivia. Taking things
apart and putting them together. Making things work.
The first things people usually notice about me
They don't notice me. I'm good at being unobtrusive.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
(A) The Atrocity Archives (Stross), The Stone Canal (Ken Macleod),
The Complete Sherlock Holmes (Arthur Conan Doyle), Use of Weapons
(Iain Banks), Memory (Louis McMaster Bujold), A Deepness in the Sky
(Vernor Vinge)
(B) Dr. Strangelove, City of Lost Children, The Replacement
Killers, Richard III
(C) Ochre, Boards of Canada, Boston, J.S. Bach, Postal
Service
(D) Liverwurst? Chinese dumplings/rolls? (really, I like everything
except eggplant.)
The six things I could never do without
books,
books, books,
books, music, music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
All kinds of things. How to take over the world. How it would be
nice if people left the world alone for a change. (Secretly, a
bunch
of boring technical stuff too esoteric to describe here)
On a typical Friday night I am
Parked in front of my laptop, and happy about it. Reading. Eating
large meals in restaurants.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Life has not yet successfully beaten all of the romanticism and
idealism out of me. Yet. I think...
You should message me if
You want an interesting conversation about something that doesn't
really have much to do with popular (non-geek) culture.
