What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm raising my son, working at two serving jobs, and following my many transient passions.
I don't have a lot of free time, but I like to engage in awesome, meaningful experiences in my off hours.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Expressing my thoughts verbally, making friends with cats, planning and Type A organizing, and then falling through on said plans and cluttering up said organization.

Nearly everything I learn I absorb through reading. I'm really. fucking. good at retaining information I read. It's what makes me a competent server.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile, my laugh.

Or, if I have my son with me, they notice the adorable blond monkey I'm chasing down, pulling off shelves, or digging into the dirt with.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I read too much. If I start reading in the same room as you, you will have to pry the book from my hands for me to even remember you are there.

I love a lot of fiction books, so I'll get back to you on a better list, but for now: Annie On My Mind, Looking For Alaska, East of Eden, A Spot of Bother, A Hundred Years of Solitude, Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage.
Also, poetry. I love Pablo Neruda, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, and Bo Burnham.

Movies: Submarines, TransAmerica, Lost and Delirious, Nothing, The Breakfast Club, Celeste and Jesse Forever, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Wristcutters, Groundhog Day, Lost In Translation, Lars And The Real Girl, Moonrise Kingdom, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Away We Go.

Music:
I can get down to most music. Here's a slightly arbitrary list of bands I really enjoy on my iPod:
Alexisonfire, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Awolnation, Balance And Composure, The Black Keys, Brand New, Bright Eyes, Built To Spill, Cake, Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino, Citizen, Coheed and Cambria, The Dismemberment Plan, Damned Things, Doomtree, The Doors, Eagles of Death Metal, Every Time I Die, Fall Out Boy, Fleetwood Mac, Foxy Shazam, Fun., The Head and the Heart, Jack White/everything he's ever done, Kool AD, Mumford and Sons, Rival Sons, Say Anything, Straylight Run, Sublime, Taking Back Sunday.

I eat a high fat/low carb diet. I try to eat whole, unprocessed foods. I'm obsessed with finding and trying exotic and heirloom produce.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My backpack.
2. My son and brothers.
3. My animals.
4. Caffeine
5. Walks, preferably at night, and while just a little messed up.
6. Good local beer.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Random, vaguely esoteric plans I have for my future.

Alternates for said plans.

The fact that when a scientist studies atoms, it is a group of atoms banding together to study other atoms. Maybe the point of human existence is atomic social research.

I think about myself a fair bit. I believe in constant self-improvement. My goals aren't complicated. I just want to be more engaged and joyous.

...also pretty girls.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
My son goes to his dad's for the weekend, so after work you can usually find me at a brewery in Indy, or a friends' house with a 6 pack.

I don't really go out to bars much. My friends and I act like burnouts still. We go get food, make a ruckus, listen to music. Bonfires, long drives. Typical small-town stoner bullshit.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I use this section as a disclaimer. If honesty makes you uncomfortable, don't try to talk to me. You won't like it.

Here' s my little bit of candor: I have been homeless, and spent a long time couch-surfing. When I was in my late teens, I found myself failing cyclically.

Predictably, I made lots of shitty decisions, and one decision that led to my son. He woke me up.
