My self-summary
Me: Caring. Compassionate. Smart. Sweet. Looking for a loving relationship; possibly permanent. Monogamous or monogamish. For me, that basically means monogamous, but with caring, space, and respect to discuss any possible exceptions.

You: Kind, funny, good at talking about feelings. Fond of animals. Creative. Delightful and full of delight. You have read the MetaFilter threat about Emotional Labor and totally, totally get it. No height requirements.
What I’m doing with my life
Work: Social work grad student 'til May 2017, interested in aging, health, and the end of life. Interning in senior subsidized housing.

Everything else: Spending time with friends. Cuddling with my cat. Trying to balance awareness and concern for social justice with my current inclination to enjoy all the gears of my life humming along just as they should.
I’m really good at
Warmth, open-heartedness. Giving love. Making my apartment feel like a home. Being surprisingly lewd and disgusting, in the right company.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: I left a five-year library job in September, and have been embarrassingly un-literary since. In general, I go for gorgeous but un-fussy sentence-level writing. (Some might say an exception to the un-fussy rule - one of my *favorite* books is Wolf Hall. I LOVE the pronoun business.) The McSweeney's bit about Raymond Carver's OKCupid profile is a classic. (

MOVIES: Wonder Boys, The Philadelphia Story

SHOWS: Mad Men, Transparent, Masters of Sex (Season 1 particularly). Star Trek forever. Oh PLEASE let the X-Files revival be good.

MUSIC: First Aid Kit, Lake Street Dive, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. Kacey Musgraves, because I am a liberal feminist socialist who likes country music. Paul Simon, Fiona Apple, anybody else who sings the words that are on my mind. Plus whatever's on WUMB.

FOOD/DRINK: FoMu, the Neighborhood, State Park, backbar. Tea and toasted cinnamon bread. Coffee and donuts. Egg and avocado. Peanut butter and everything. Char siu bao. Even the frozen ones from Trader Joe's.
The six things I could never do without
Car radio (often public)
Hands (yours, mine, and as a general concept)
Lip balm
I spend a lot of time thinking about
All the usual things, but three steps to the left. The Bern.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with friends to recharge after the week. There are definitely times when all I need is to be social!
