I am feckless, mischievous, and a musician.

My Self-Summary

Hi I'm Kate :) I'm friendly and like to meet new people. I'm pretty adventurous and inquisitive - strange mix of adrenaline junkie and academic.

I love music - playing it, listening to it, finding amazing songs. I like jamming on my sax, but I also play flute or piano. I've just started playing the acoustic guitar, love singing my favourite stuff

What I’m doing with my life

I'm at uni studying English atm. I read a lot, but it doesn't always end up being the things I'm supposed to be reading.. I normally read poetry, philosophy and the odd fiction. Recently I've liked a lot of Bertrand Russell and some Nietszche. I like Dylan Thomas's or T. S. Eliot's poetry, but I like trying a lot of other random poets and authors.

I love going out dancing and having a good time (specially in mosh and places like that), so if anyone likes the place/music drop me a message lol. Having said that, I love dancing anywhere to good music. And I now have a guitar. Ayyy ;) lol

I play sax in a band called Sunflower. We've been together for a while and do a lot of gigs in the Leicester area, hopefully recording more soon (www.myspace.com/thesunflowerpage)

I teach a few instrument lessons in my spare time, can be fun. I also run a sax ensemble at a music shop in my hometown when I'm back. I don't mind doing stuff like that, cause doesn't seem like work and I like messing around on instruments (Prob not gonna be a teacher after uni tho. My career plan keeps bouncing btw journalism and trying to be an academic. I'm pretty much towards the latter atm, attractive as the prospect of being a soulless hack is).
Note: I'm now thinking of being an instrument teacher for about a year after uni while I decide what to do career-wise - maybe in the Us. Never said I was decisive.. :p

I’m really good at

playing the sax and writing

sometimes pretending I've read a book I haven't in seminar.. :o

The first things people usually notice about me

Blonde hair and curves I guess.
Then love of stupid dancing, music.. random sense of humour

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Watership Down, Beyond Good and Evil, Clockwork Orange, Lord of the Rings, The Time Traveller's Wife, Hamlet. Reading a lot of Old English and Chaucer atm - course stuff. Quite like the Old English tho, strangely.

Some of my favourite artists are.. Bad Religion, The Pogues, The Rolling Stones, Dream Theater, the Pixies, The Cure. Pennywise, Sonic Boom Six, Muse, David Bowie, Anthony and the Johnsons, Courtney Pine, jazz with a crazy sax part (it's not essential or anything, but a plus), random songs in general (like 'It Sucks to be Me' from Avenue Q - love the opening line 'What do you do with a BA in English?...'). But yeah loads of different stuff, depending on mood

Some of my favourite films are Catch me if you can, Leon, High Fidelity (and the book) and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

I love comedy like Nevermind the Buzzcocks, Red Dwarf, Mitchell and Webb Have I Got News For You, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, anything with Stephen Fry in it. Also any number of stupid videos on youtube

The six things I could never do without

Laughter, adrenaline, affection, my sax, books and.. lattes :p

I spend a lot of time thinking about

everything really, probably think too much. Societal things interest me, so it ends up being a lot of psychology, sociology, politics, philosophy type stuff.. all the kind of subjects my dad never wanted me to do at uni haha ('mickey-mouse subjects' and all that)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm rubbish at mariokart *sigh*

You should message me if

you share any of my many addictions.. caffeine, sax solos, adrenaline, mild blasphemy, music, dancing etc
