My self-summary
In a nutshell:
Relatively new to town. I like riding my bike (in the warmer months), loitering in coffee shops (in all months), and being outside (with appropriate attire). I am equally fond of working hard -- both physically and mentally -- and taking it easy. Like most, I enjoy good food and drink, good friends, and good conversation. I value honesty, compassion, and self-awareness. I sometimes take a while to warm to people, and can be mildly flippant and/or irreverent at times (in the endearing way, one would hope). I sometimes drink kombucha and I secretly think those jeans lined with flannel are the bee's knees. (Also, I say shit like "the bee's knees.") And, I often mime "air parentheses" (is that a thing?) while I'm talking.
What I’m doing with my life
My life: infant --> student --> teacher --> student --> teacher and student of teaching --> student and teacher of student teachers.
I’m really good at
Pretty good at: wacky yoga things, being direct, jigsaw puzzles, perspective taking
Less good at: doing the dishes, feigning interest, social media, co-existing with cats

I'm also the kind of person who is bothered by the un-parallel structure of those lists, but not quite neurotic enough to revise...
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty tall. And I've been told that whatever I'm thinking is most likely written all over my face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Zadie Smith, JD Salinger, the New Yorker, ed theory, well-written nonfiction

Wes Anderson, Amelie, The Lives of Others, Midnight in Paris, etc...

"Fresh Air," "RadioLab" and "Wait, wait, don't tell me." (What, that wasn't referring to radio?) Seriously? The West Wing, The Wire, and Mad Men.

Lately... Andrew Bird, the National, Tallest Man on Earth, Yeasayer, Lana del Ray, Beirut, etc. Of course, always loyal to the classics, too (Dylan, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, etc...).

I'm pretty into natural, whole foods, and I'm mostly vegetarian. But, I don't live by any hard and fast rules. I'm also an unfortunately uninspired and impatient cook, which makes my home culinary life a little one-dimensional.
The six things I could never do without
vocation
avocation
relaxation
fascination
objects of admiration
...and my bike.
On a typical Friday night I am
Any combination of the following (solo or with any mix of people): yoga, laundry, food, drink, music, books, work, sleep.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
As a kid I thought you could sit on Abe's lap at the Lincoln memorial. Yeah, like Santa.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 26–38
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You want to hang out, shoot the shit and laugh. Just looking to meet good people. Whatever else happens is the proverbial icing on the cake.
That's really a pretty low bar, don't you think?

Also, I could use a date for a wedding in August. Seriously.
