My self-summary
I laugh a lot.

I cook a lot. (And make some pretty mean cocktails to drink while cooking).

I nerd out when it comes to anything American history-related, and I am pretty attached to NPR and Jeopardy.

My major passions are books, politics, sports, and food, and I enjoy lively discussions of just about anything...especially if the lively discussion involves whiskey or beer.

I get horribly competitive when playing board games.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a librarian and archivist who has worked for a cookbook library, an archaeological archive, a public library, and the national archives.
I’m really good at
remembering completely useless facts (and being a super jeopardy player), making people laugh, looking innocent, and winning board games.
The first things people usually notice about me
my red hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot of non-fiction, and especially enjoy Mark Kurlansky, Doris Kearns-Goodwin and David McCullough.

I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy every summer.

I love the West Wing, Arrested Development, any kind of sports movie, jeopardy, PBS cooking shows, PBS period dramas.

I'm a big Motown/ old-school R and B fan. I have a lot of weird Pandora stations that are generally quite embarrassing (but if you show me a person who doesn't enjoy the 90's Hits station, I'll show you a dirty liar).

I love all kinds of food (the spicier the better) and like to experiment with different cuisines, both cooking and trying new restaurants. Sandwiches are the world's most perfect form of sustenance.
The six things I could never do without
books, good bread, board games, antique shops, a well-prepared cocktail, and my friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
revolutionary moments in history. fascinating.

When I can next escape from the city into the wilderness. Being surrounded by trees or the ocean helps me think. I love (small) cities but need to get away once every month or so, even if it's just for a couple days. Just spent a few days camping up at acadia and am still struck by the gorgeous landscape of northern Maine.

And sandwiches.
On a typical Friday night I am
out at a fancy cocktail lounge or a dive bar. or home reading. or wherever else my friends decide to drag me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am a secret sci-fi/fantasy nerd.
You should message me if
you would be equally comfortable staying in and cooking an elaborate dinner, hanging out at a dive bar with my friends, throwing on some nice clothes and venturing out to find a great cocktail, tossing a tent into the car and heading up to Maine for a last-minute weekend of camping, or planning a trip to Jordan to stay with the Bedouin.
