My Self-Summary
What I’m doing with my life
Most of what I talked about has to do with school because school consumes my life.
I’m really good at
Attempting NOT to sound like a total braggart:
-I can pwn you at Guitar Hero and can hold my own in DDR. Don't ever mess with me in Tekken 3 or Mario Kart 64. Just don't. <3 Video games.
-I am pretty darn smart, in all sorts of things like modern physics, contemporary social theory and common sense.
-I like to and can often make people laugh.
-I can tell you the most amazing story, complete with ridiculous hand gestures, or I can listen to you for hours, genuinely captivated by what you have to say.
-I have a knack for just figuring out how to do things and getting them done. From reflection leading to personal development to community event planning to fixing the broken washing machine. It's pretty random.
The first things people usually notice about me
Within five minutes of talking to someone I will usually inspire the giggles (in more mild cases; in more severe cases we have had milkshakes erupt from the ears).
I've been told I've got a killer smile. :D <--Mine is better than that.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: The Fountainhead (though Ayn Rand's contributions to modern conservatism make me wanna gag, <3 Roark's integrity), The Giver, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, The Little Prince, Good Omens, His Dark Materials Trilogy, The Wheel of Time (don't judge me, pretentious scholars), Snow Crash
Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Royal Tennenbaums (Wes Anderson in general, actually), Good Will Hunting, Amelie, American Beauty, Little Miss Sunshine, Dodgeball, Ghostbusters, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog
Music: Rilo Kiley, The Beatles, The Dresden Dolls, Death Cab for Cutie, Metric, Mirah, Ratatat, Simon and Garfunkel, Van Morrison, The Postal Service, Regina Spektor, Radiohead, Queen, 80's pop, 90's pop (because it reminds me of high school and makes me LOL)
Food: Thai curry, pizza with white garlic sauce and various toppings, and Everything But The... Ben and Jerry's ice cream, cheese (in general), cobb sandwiches/salads (the bacon, bleu cheese, avocado combo rocks my world)
Webcomics: Questionable Content, A Softer World, Dinosaur Comics, xkcd, Wondermark, Cyanide and Happiness, PBF (retired), VG Cats
TV: Freaks and Geeks, The Office, Arrested Development, Six Feet Under, Jeopardy!, Undeclared, Firefly, The Venture Brothers
The six things I could never do without
2. At least one person in my life who understands who I am, where I've come from and where I'm going.
3. An understanding of my goals and dreams; I will reshape them if I find they are not necessarily where I'm going anymore.
4. Semi-regular cuddling. Cuddling can be just as satisfying as sex.
5. My ability to think and reflect. I cannot consider myself to be alive without the opportunity to constantly improve (which requires reflection).
6. My sense of humor. If I ever lose that, oh goodness.
I'm not that material of a person. But I also love the Intarwebz.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Really.
On a typical Friday night I am
I can be found in a coffee shop, buried in texts on quantitative statistical analysis and world systems theory.
I can be found dressed as 16-bit Scorpion, executing wicked combos (<- <- LP: Get over here!) on E. Honda as the crowd screams to "FINISH HIM!"
I can be found curling up in my blankets with a good movie and a cold beer.
Or I can be found bursting into song during a spontaneous musical number in a donut shop at midnight.
See, I just described my last four weekends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
If you must label me in some way because your human mind requires it, call me queer. :)
You should message me if
a) can make me think;
b) can make me laugh;
c) can challenge me to constantly improve;
d) are not a total selfish dick.
D is not negotiable. I've had my fair share of that, thank you.
ALSO: invite me to chat with you, if you wanna. That could be fun :)
And finally, I'm a little shy about initiating contact sometimes. Just wanted to mention that.
