My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've been told that I am an absolute sweetheart and have a real "spark-plug" of a personality. My passions are good food (I have a cooking blog), good music, and a trip on the calendar. I'm also a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers if you have ties to Cleveland or the Baltimore Ravens, be prepared for ridicule and taunting, along with a big smile! ;)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Like most people on here, I love to travel. A few years ago I promised myself I'd take one international trip a year. This promise has turned into trips to Ireland, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Thailand, and most recently Canada. I recently returned from a two week trip to Ecuador and Peru in June. And yes, I visited Machu Picchu. Just like half the women on here, so I'm told. :)

I'm looking for someone who is up for a little adventure when they travel and isn't content to just sit on the beach and look at the waves for a week. Granted, we all need a little time to relax sometimes, but I prefer to be out and about and enjoying the culture and customs of the place I am visiting. I have awesome travel stories and if you're lucky, I'll share them with you, including the one about how I caught a fish in Alaska that was as long as I am tall or my encounter with one of the finest culinary "delicacies" in all of Spain!

2014 marks my 10-year anniversary of being in the DC area...but I still get a thrill out of exploring the area. I am always looking for someone to explore the city with and who has an adventurous streak. I enjoy checking out new exhibits at the museums, going to trivia nights, spending time in Great Falls when the weather is nice, and playing bocce (yes I am in a league during the summer).

Oh and since this is DC, I feel I have to mention what I do. I use a machete to cut through federal red tape. But at least I saved that for the bottom of this section, right? :)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Witty comebacks. Pop culture trivia. And being able to carry a conversation with just about anybody.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
They'll first notice that I'm very short, but that I have an energy and spirit of someone much bigger in size.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Middlesex is one of my all-time favorite books. I also really enjoyed In One Person (John Irving's latest) and Gone Girl.

TV shows: Breaking Bad, Masters of Sex, Homeland, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, True Blood, Veep

Movies: Too many to count, but I gravitate toward foreign films, documentaries, and dramas.

Music: Adele, Ben Folds, Coldplay, Stevie Wonder, Regina Spektor, David Gray, David Bowie, Band of Horses, and many more. But I hate country music.

Food: Yes, please.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Well, the obvious, water, air, family/friends, etc. always ring true. But I'm going to go with the six things that make me genuinely happy.

1) My nephew who is still too young to know how awesome I think he is
2) A trip on the calendar
3) Music that makes me smile and sing along, instant mood lifter.
4) A fabulous meal
5) Fall weather
6) Cheese. Yes, seriously, I don't understand how someone could go vegan.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Enjoying happy hour with some friends, or catching a movie. My Friday nights seem to be more low-key in recent years, and I'm completely at peace with that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a completely irrational fear every time I go into the basement of my condo building to put something in my storage unit, that there will be a small family living inside of it. If you knew my neighborhood, you'd understand! And it's a nice sized storage unit!

On a more serious note, I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. While I often come across as pretty tough and sarcastic, I can be a real softie when it comes to people I care about. Or sometimes people I don't even know. "Tender-hearted" as my mom puts it.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You have a wicked sense of humor but a kind heart. You should enjoy a fine wine or a great bourbon, independent films and a great meal. You are pretty settled in your life (i.e. not going through some major transition), comfortable in your own skin and career, and close with your family. You're looking to start a relationship with the right person when the time is right. I've done my fair share of dating in this city, but I'm ready to find that special person to share my life with.

I like to listen to people talk about an interesting fact or story about themselves as opposed to leading with the whole DC "what do you do?" mentality. So if you have a great story to share, I'd love to hear it.
