My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Short version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vczarmHTf5s#t=135

My name is Kyle. I moved to the Bay Area about two years ago in search of more interesting work, and thus far, I do not regret the decision. I am currently a systems and software engineer at eBay; specifically at Milo, a quirky little outfit that eBay bought a couple of years ago. In the course of the last year I've been involved in some pretty enjoyable projects, including being one of the originators of the new personalized shopping feed on the eBay homepage.

While I'm a computer scientist by training, I have surface-level knowledge of a wide variety of subjects. I'm particularly interested in neuroscience and psychology research. I don't see how anyone can be enthralled by technology while having no interest in the workings of the mind; the human brain is the most interesting information processing system in the world. I think mine's broken, though.

For those who are interested in pop psychology personality assessments, I am an INFJ—what Keirsey refers to as the Counselor.

I'm a reasonably acceptable human, I think. Feel free to say hello. I have friends from vastly different walks of life, and I've been told that I'm good at understanding and relating to people. Good friends are hard to find, so I am always open to the possibility of making new ones.

I say "yosh!" a lot. Yosh.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
At the moment, I am focusing on my career and on personal growth. My ongoing goal is to obtain as much autonomy as possible, whether that be through working at a start-up or other means. I despise debt and I dislike being beholden to others in any way. I want to be independent and free.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm very analytical. I like to write, program, and solve problems. I'm not a robot, though; I also have creative interests. I have an ear for music. While I can sing better than most of my friends would ever suspect (though still not very well), you'd have to get me drunk to make me do it in front of you. I also enjoy creative writing, and I have a dry sense of humor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably the way I talk. I sound vaguely British. I have several theories as to how this came about, but to be honest, I'm not really sure. Some things in life just don't make much sense. I also have green eyes, and people comment on this sometimes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I've had my nose buried in books since I was a kid. I used to have hundreds of them, but I have fewer now that I've moved six times. Those boxes are damned heavy. I'm a science fiction nerd, but I enjoy literature of all varieties.

As far as movies go, I have an eclectic taste. Blade Runner is my favorite movie. I'm also very fond of American Beauty. I guess I tend to gravitate toward understated films. I'll watch just about anything, though, so long as it's not awful. Some movies are best viewed with a glass of wine. I'm also fond of what I call "good bad television." Example: Once Upon a Time.

Additionally, I am an unabashed Whedonite. I can sing every tune from "Once More, With Feeling" by heart.

Music? I like to make playlists. I'm old enough that I remember mixed tapes. I still like to make those, just on Spotify instead of a magnetic tape. Here are a few that I actually took some time on.

Once and For All
Forgotten Dreams
Essence of Flight
A Camaro in Summer
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Computers, books, friends, my family, natural beauty, and what's left of my brain.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
All kinds of things. It's an actual problem, sometimes. If you like to muse out loud about totally random things, we'll be good friends.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Snorting coke with my bitches. Well, no, not really. I'm probably at home reading a book or doing something low-key with my friends. Unless I'm in the mood for something different, I generally prefer quieter settings.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I think you're trustworthy, I'll admit to just about anything. My past has made me who I am, and since I generally like the person I've become, I am not ashamed of it. If we accept the notion that our past experiences make us who we are today, then to regret the past is a veiled form of self hatred.
