I am bright, eyed, and bushy-tailed.

My Self-Summary

Hello, I'm Kayla. I'm from Florida and have lived in NYC for 2 years. I pretty much love it. I also love a variety of other things. For example: music, film, history, dancing, 1960s, reading, rock and roll, interesting conversations, coffee, violin, travel, scrabble, vinyl records, grapefruit juice, Russia, art, crossword puzzles, laughing, museums, vintage clothing, parks, Tom Hanks, eating, historical epics, musical instruments, wit, etc. If most of these interest you too, we might as well.

What I’m doing with my life

I am a historian. Contrary to popular belief, one can actually do something with a history degree. I am starting graduate school soon. In the meantime I am doing my own research, working a few jobs and having tons of fun.

I’m really good at

describing myself in long, tedious paragraphs on dating websites.

The first things people usually notice about me

I would say my hair or height. It's not a wild and crazy red, but apparently it's enough for people to mention it. As far as height goes, i'm only 5'10 so don't freak out. Also, apparently I look Slavic. I am, so your assumption is safe.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: "The Picture of Dorian Gray" - Oscar Wilde, "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" - Thomas Hardy, "1984" - George Orwell, "Valley of the Dolls" - Jacqueline Susanne, "Lolita" - Vladmir Nabokov, "Madame Bovary" - Gustave Flaubert, "Catch 22" - Joseph Heller, "Oil!" - Upton Sinclair. Currently reading "Sense and Sensiblility" by Jane Austen.

Movies: Forrest Gump, Harold and Maude, Saturday Night Fever, Manhattan, Cast Away, There Will Be Blood, Alive

Music: 1960s garage/soul, David Bowie, and the list goes on and on. I could go on for hours, really. Lets talk about it.

Food: grilled cheese sandwiches

The six things I could never do without

I need 7, but not necessarily in this order:

- music playing device
- friends/family
- books
- photos
- coffee
- sun
- cheese

I spend a lot of time thinking about

fond memories, the weather, how delicious seltzer water is, beaches and the relaxation that comes along with them, other people, historical events and how they relate, lindy hopping, my room, geography, sun on my face, what ever happened to my Teddy Ruxpin, long hair, time keeping, what to read next, movie scores, old sayings, love.

On a typical Friday night I am

cutting rugs, eatin', drinkin' and having a good time among other things.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I wait tables on the weekends.

You should message me if

You like what you've been reading and/or you have a smile that will make me melt into a puddle.
