My self-summary
I'm fun, quirky, bold, and in a good mood almost all the time. I'm honest to a fault, a quality that tends to be mirrored in my closest friends. I love trying new things, going on adventures, and seeing new sides of whatever city I'm living in.

I just moved back to Washington after a year in New Orleans - I basically took a year off from the DC scene to wait tables, eat a lot of gumbo and pecan pie, listen to jazz, dance, drink on the street, and explore a fascinating city. It was a crazy awesome year, and I miss New Orleans already. I do, however, really love DC - and I'm looking forward to exploring DC with fresh eyes.

I'm an ISTJ if that means anything to you, but I'm a stealth introvert - I'm social, and everyone (even friends!) assumes I'm an extrovert. My introversion manifests itself in a love for TV on DVD, reading, and my pair of kitties.

I dislike salad dressing, suburbs, scary movies, and bugs.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in Democratic politics - it's my attempt at making the world a slightly better place. In the past, I've worked mostly on political campaigns, although my career has taken on a bit of an analytical flair. As much as I love what I do, I work hard to not let it define me.

I've just moved back into town, so right now there's a lot of unpacking and catching up with old friends. But once I'm settled in, I can't wait to re-explore the city. I love finding weird, niche things to do where I can meet interesting people and have a new experience - in New Orleans those things ran the gamut from out of the way neighborhood restaurants, community potlucks, political protests, poetry slams, finding great places to soak up the sun and people watch, and attending secret Mardi Gras parades.

While I love traveling, most of my vacation time and money these days is spent visiting friends and family.
I’m really good at
problem solving, bringing a touch of whimsy to everyday life, wrapping presents, Settlers of Catan, meeting interesting people, Excel, Super Mario 64, and living happily without a car.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm an open book - everyone always knows what I'm thinking. Plus, I'm pretty tall.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Oryx and Crake, The Poisonwood Bible, The Art of Happiness, The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, All Sherlock Holmes stories, The Street Lawyer, 1 Dead in Attic, All Too Human, and The Hot Zone.

Movies:
American Beauty, The Usual Suspects, The Little Mermaid, Lean On Me, Father of the Bride, Mission Impossible, all Harry Potter films, and The Breakfast Club. So basically I haven't seen a movie I loved in a while...

TV Shows:
New Girl, The West Wing, Friends, Seinfeld, Veronica Mars, The Office, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Gilmore Girls, Glee, Dexter, Party Down, The Blacklist, and Game of Thrones.

Music (My taste in music is terrible, but at least I'm aware of it. Please don't judge too harshly):
Barenaked Ladies, Sugarland, Kenny Chesney, Sublime, various soundtracks (Disney, Broadway, Glee), Paul Simon, Jimmy Buffett, Five for Fighting, Billy Joel, Matt Nathanson, Fun., Third Eye Blind. I also fell in love with this quirky band called Alexis and the Samurai in New Orleans.

Food:
I love trying new restaurants, but I've been out of town for a year, so please, make suggestions! Favs before I left include Ping Pong Dim Sum, Bistrot de Coin, Busboys and Poets, Great Wall Szechuan House, Toki Underground, Brasserie Beck, Zengo, and let's be honest, I LOVE Chipotle (which did not exist in New Orleans, much to my chagrin).
The six things I could never do without
This question bugs me. I don't know why. But it bugs me. So I'm opting out.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working, relaxing, or out and about with friends. I prefer to adventure on Saturdays and Sundays once I'm well rested.
