I am bookish, geeky, and nerdy.

My Self-Summary

I'm sort of bookish. I've been in Las Vegas for about 11 years now and love this city. Although I have to admit that meeting people can be something of a challenge.

I really like making people laugh and have a peculiar sense of humor. I love wit and sarcasm and use both pretty extensively, but then again, I'm not above cheap parlor tricks, crass and self-deprecating humor either.

Actually, I excel at self-deprecating.

At any given moment, I'm usually in the middle of a book. I've had a newfound love and appreciation for the great American authors – Faulkner, Hemingway, Steinbeck and Mark Twain.

I'm a bit of a geek, but I still try to keep myself pretty active. I really enjoy camping, hiking, especially the kind where you go off the trail. I love rock scrambling at Red Rock and would love a girl who can keep up.

My family and friends are all awesome and they're very important to me. My friends and I often have heated discussions about things like grammar while we're knocking back drinks at some dive bar.

This summer, I went on an amazing road trip, vagabonding my way through Alaska and the pacific northwest with a couple friends of mine. Worked some tough professions along the way and slept anywhere from airport lobbies to homeless shelters to under a tree on a golf course.

I still like video games and cartoons and enjoy the occasional anime.

I like to be serious, but more than that I enjoy life and have fun with it. My sunny disposition is indomitable and I get along with damn near everybody.

What I’m doing with my life

The road trip (and readjusting to life off the road) had something of a profound impact on me.

It taught me a lot about what I need and what I want.

It also sort of put me at odds with my life. I am being torn between recklessness and a buckling down and growing up.

Most of the choices I face these days come down to the safe, conservative choice versus the risky, impetuous one.

I've taken a lot of risks and been burned more often than not, but damned if I'm going to stop swinging for the fences. And so I can choose the safe road and go back into advertising and good money or I can take the high road and start a new career teaching for little money and profound gratification.

I'm one of those rare few who actually enjoys working with students. I get along with all my students and found that my favorite by far are the lower-income students.

I’m really good at

Reading and listening to good music and letting things roll off my shoulders (figuratively, that is).

I'm good at writing. Even better with grammar. I just wish I had the gumption to actually get up and write something worth reading. My biggest problem is that I lose interest in my own work before I finish it.

The thing I'm best at though would have to be bad luck. Can that be a skill? Sometimes it's as if whatever good luck I have is really just a minimization of my bad luck.

It's pretty sweet.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm Asian?

Or maybe that I smile a lot?

And I'm always sort of dancing to the music in my head.

I can be shy and often appear so or even worse nervous. I also tend be a little awkward around people. It's all part of my boyish charm.

FOOD
I have an unnatural love for breakfast burritos.

The six things I could never do without

I learned that I need very little. Let's skip the obligatory family and friends and such (though they ARE essential):

Coffee -- There is nothing better than having a cup of coffee and enjoying a good book on a sunny afternoon.

Beer -- Except, of course, having a cold pint of good beer while enjoying a good book on a sunny afternoon.

Whiskey -- I feel like all writers should have a preferred booze and I hope to be a writer someday.

Food -- I'm a bit of a garbage disposal.

Books -- Can't think of everything on my own, you know.

Pretty girls in pretty dresses -- Ain't nothing better.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I am an incorrigible people watcher and eavesdropper. I notice idiosyncrasies and wonder about them. I've got a lot of quirks myself. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

What I think about depends on the day. I like to know what's happening in my city, country and the world.

On a typical Friday night I am

Anything from reading at a Starbucks, staying at home with a movie or going to a well-stocked bar with friends.

You know, generally.

Sometimes I can even be found trying to find the end of the Internet. All I've found out is that there is a lot of porn out there.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

My dorkyness tends to overwhelm most of the self-proclaimed dorky girls I've come across.

You should message me if

Odds are good I'll be messaging you first. I am the guy after all.
