My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I’m originally from Scotland, and have a kilt to prove it. I love to explore new cities and the outdoors. I have a tonne of places I’d love to visit.

I spent half a year at university in Aberdeen, but left early to find a job that was more exciting. Now I’m a Software Engineer and work remotely, I’m currently a nomad and am free to work from anywhere. I left England for the winter and came to Australia.

I typically have a stack of books that I’m trying to work through, and I’m always buying and starting new ones faster than I can finish the ones I already have.

Sports and training are a big part of my life. I’m into rock climbing, bouldering, strength training and olympic lifting. I enjoy travelling to new places to climb and meeting people along the way.

I travel regularly, I’ll go away somewhere every two out of three months on average.

I’m always trying to learn, fix or improve something at home or at work.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living and working from Brighton but thinking about relocating to somewhere with more mountains and sunshine.

Right now I’m mostly interested in climbing around the world and would love to meet someone who’d like to join me.

Working for a software company I get to solve new problems every day and work with talented colleagues that challenge me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Problem solving, analysing complex systems, taking things apart and putting things back together.

Picking debate topics or recalling stories that go on for ages, without any meaningful conclusion.

I’m trying to get good at the boardgame Go. I love to spend an evening playing a couple of games and discussing the events of the week.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I’m a quiet listener, who likes to hear what you’ve got to say first while considering my own opinion.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I mostly read sci-fi; Ian M. Banks is probably my favourite author at the moment. The Algebraist and Excession would be my top picks. I’ve started reading Neil Stephenson too.

The Dark Knight, Up, Inception, The Social Network, 500 days of Summer, Primer, Interstellar. Basically anything by Christopher Nolan.

House, Boston Legal, Grey’s Anatomy, Dr Who, Sherlock, Modern Family, House of Cards, Archer, Game of Thrones.

Robyn, The Sounds, Dragonette, Daft Punk, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Vampire Weekend, Shiny Toy Guns, CSS.

Pizza and Garlic Bread. Really, really good fish, nowhere in Brighton even comes close to how good we can get it back home. Also steak and wagu beef in particular.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
• Books
• Laptop
• A stereo, some headphones and plenty of music
• Coffee
• Climbing
• Friends to enjoy the above with
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Probably my work, I’ll typically be absorbed in a single problem unable to move on before I solve it. I also love to talk about it and sound ideas out.

Then what I’m going to do next, my next project, my next adventure, planning my next trip.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Trying to decide which movie to rent, though I’ll usually just watch the trailer then read the plot on Wikipedia, instead of actually watching the film.

Recovering from a weeks worth of training.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Nothing. Deal with it.
