TV: I cut the cable back in July. I went through withdrawl at first
until I discovered what I already have in my collection or just
re-discover old stuff via Amazon Instant. House of Cards (US) has
some of the best writing today and Orange Is the New Black is
fantastic (then again, I loved Weeds and it was the only reason I
had Showtime). My one "must watch now" show that I have is Hell's
Kitchen and I watch it with my roommates (who didn't cut the cord
when I moved in with them). Otherwise, I get my news from a delayed
broadcast of NBC Nightly News or watch CNN International or Sky
News if I need to have something just "on".
Books: Clancy novels, non-fiction, alternate reality sci-fi
Movies: I've been converting my DVD and Blu-Ray collection over to
digital so I can watch them easily on my Roku. Titles I've recently
watched: The Sting, Watchmen, Entrapment, There Will Be Blood, Her,
The Wolf of Wall Street, 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, The
Bourne Identity and Frozen. I love anything that Kevin Smith has
done and can fully enjoy a foreign film (Bollywood is great.. as
long as there's subtitles). I'm a sucker for Independent Cinema and
think that while places like Sundance Theatres and Landmark are
nice because they've brought Indie film to the masses, there's
something still commercial about them.
Music: I am good with almost anything but gangsta rap and speed
metal. If you are someone that has to see band names or genres: U2,
Rush, Boston, Journey, The Church, New Order, Erasure, UB40, Bob
Marley, Yes, Pink Floyd, The Call, The Cure....
Those are some of the bands I listen to. I've got over 4,000 albums
(thank god for MP3 and Mp4 files or else my cassette collection
would kill me to drive it around ;) ). I enjoy classical, movie
scores, jazz, Classic Alternative, Alternative, Blues, oldies as
well as Top 40 and Classic Rock.
Food: Anything that's not spicy! Love Japanese cuisine. Am willing
to try anything once. I'm craving Indian these days (there's not a
restaurant in Kenosha... and I don't know of any good ones in the
area). Hawaiian food is comfort food but then again so is home
cooking. Mexican is good and so is Seafood.
