I am human, laid-back, and kindanerdy.
My Self-Summary
I live and work in Dallas. I'm originally from Houston, and went to
college at
UT
Austin. Overall, I think my friends would say I'm pretty
nerdy. Like in a
good kind of way (I think). After all, nerdy really just means
being passionate about something, right?
I'm an IT consultant which in my case mostly means I make the
internet. Outside
of work I enjoy doing all kinds of fun stuff. Fun stuff like going
to restaurants, bars,
nintendo wii (yeah that's not
nerdy)...I am also a fan of the game
Apples to Apples (ask me
about the "Middle Pile") I enjoy experiencing random new things,
like a new type of food...doing outdoorsy stuff...going to a part
of town I've never been to...checking out the various festivals in
the area. In summary, I am fun, sometimes nerdy, and random.
What I’m doing with my life
I am enjoying doing the IT consulting thing. I like the work I do
and the people I work with are great. I think at some point I might
want to explore other areas within the technology industry but I am
open to whatever life throws at me. I try not to plan things out
too specifically because it never works out the way you expect it
to.
Other than that, I hang out with friends and hope to meet that
'special someone'...eventually.
I’m really good at
Javascript.
But as far as things that actually matter in life, let's go
with--being there for people, making people laugh, and being honest
(maybe too good at that one).
However, one thing I am not good at is bragging, so there are
probably some other things I am missing.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am...not tall. Wear glasses. Sometimes I initially come across as
being quiet/shy but usually people realize pretty quickly I can be
quite goofy.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: stuff about business, consumer behavior, marketing...like
Tipping Point, The Long Tail. Currently reading: The Audacity of
Hope
Movies: anything that makes you feel like you need to watch it
again. Fight Club and The Usual Suspects are some good
examples.
Music: not country, generally not rap unless it is some old school
stuff. Mostly alternative and rock.
Food: Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, BBQ, Italian, Seafood, sushi, the
occasional greasy hamburger and fries, Chinese, Mexican, Korean,
Middle Eastern, anywhere I can get breakfast for lunch. If I left
off any category of food, feel free to assume it should be on the
list.
The six things I could never do without
- The obvious stuff like air food and water
- The internet
- A computer to access the internet
- Friends/Family (despite stereotypes of programmers, I actually
quite enjoy the company of other humans)
- Humor
- Opportunities to help people
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I have lots of random scientific/philosophical thoughts that come
to me. Like how big is the universe. And once we figure out how big
it is, how can there be an 'edge' of space--what would be on the
other side? Nothing? What is nothing? I can't understand what
nothing-space is, because if it is nothing then actually it must be
something. So then it must be infinite. But our brains can't
process infinite space! Arghh!!
Anyways, hopefully that gives you a tiny glimpse into the unusual
thoughts floating around in my head.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends watching a movie or doing something like
playing Catchphrase or Apples to Apples.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Every time I drive through a speed trap and a police officer points
a radar gun at me I feel a little uncomfortable.
You should message me if
you are a fun person to hang out with, laid back, and believe that
friendship is a key component of a relationship
