Where to start...
As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be...wait, that's the opening to Goodfellas. Lets try that again.

I guess the basics are that I'm a geek from way back before it was cool. I got my first copy of Netscape mailed to me on a floppy disk. I love to read, and I like to keep current on the news around the world. I don't work hard so that I can play hard. I work because I love what I do. I get a kick out of solving problems and making things. I think that bringing an invisible idea into the visible world is just about the coolest thing ever. I'm constantly in awe of the fact that people actually pay me to do this.

I was the kid waking up and sneaking out to the living room to watch Dr Who at 4 AM on PBS. I play games like Power Grid and Factory Manager, and I've got a working NES and more than a few games for it. I read a LOT of sci-fi and fantasy books, I've got a standing goal of reading 100 books per year, and I usually blow through my monthly book budget within the first week.

I love coffee and cooking, playing games and reading books, and I love seeing new places. I'm an introvert with delusions of extroversion...also grandeur. I'm not into extreme sportings and their para-biking, or sky climbing or whatever the kids call it these days.

I don't panic.
I always know where my towel is.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Mostly, I work as much as I can. I'm not being a workaholic if I can quit any time I want, right? That's the side effect of loving your job, and also living 10' from your office.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making AMAZING jokes
Blowing through a new book
Folding paper
Cooking (hey, I'm really good at it)
Figuring out things
Making stuff
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Should I ever meet myself coming up the down staircase, I'll let you know

Books: I read a lot of different genres, but my favorite authors are Douglas Adams, George R R Martin, Niel Gaiman, Patrick Rothfuss, Isaac Asimov, Neal Stephenson, Margaret Atwood, Stephen King, Dan Ariely, Palo Bacigalupi, Robert Jordan (may he rest in The Light), Alex Hughes (awesome local author! Read her stuff!)...The list goes on, and it's growing all the time.

Movies: The Good, The bad and the Ugly, The Godfather, Pans Labyrinth, Children of Men, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Indiana Jones (NOT the new one. That was a crime), Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Yo Jimbo, Machine Girl, Marx Brothers movies. Everything from Pixar, anything cheesy martial arts. I love a good B movie.

Music: Flaming Lips, Johnny Cash, Daft Punk, DJ Shadow, AC/DC, Cake, The Doors, Gorillaz, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Stan Getz, REM, Radiohead...This list just gets longer and longer. I like pretty much everything except for most country.

TV: Most of the Adult Swim lineup, Colbert Report, Daily Show, Conan, Futurama, Selected anime series(yes, I'm a geek), MST3K, Doctor Who, Firefly, Parks and Rec
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Sketchbook and pen
A multitool
Fresh fruit
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What I'm going to read next, where can I afford to travel to, ways to automate things, how can I get people to pay me to do what I'm already doing, how to justify a trip to photograph the Aurora as a business expense. The ultimate question of Life, the Universe and Everything.

Example: There are more possible games of chess that can be played than there are atoms in the universe.

Brain not ready.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I don't know. Somedays it's going to be work, somedays it's going to be hanging out with friends playing games, or at dinner. It really all depends on what's happening.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I spent 3 months in 2004 being almost totally blind. I've got some great stories about that time. Buy me a beer and I'll tell you some that will make you snort.
