My name is Derek. To describe myself I would say that I am quirky, eccentric, artistic, a great story teller (in fact my recaps of things tha happened or things I've seen I have been told are way better/ more funny than if you were actually there), adventurous, and fun. I've also been describe as a hopeless romantic and one of the last in the male category. I started this profile because I'm tired of wandering endlessly without someone to share my experience with. I'm ready to find one I can take care of as well as be taken care of with.

I work currently teacher kids how to ride horses andlive in the wilderness. I love kids and how fun they are but that job is a stepping stone to fund my career. I'm a freelance filmmaker/photographer. I am currently a student in Long Beach and you can find me all over the LA area for work and fun. I live in Pasadena so I don't mind driving to places like Hollywood or Anahiem. Pasadena is kind of the hub between some really cool places anyway. In good traffic it tends to take me 20-30ish minutes to get anywhere fun and cool.

I am a total Star Wars/Simpsons/Disney fan if that helps or deters. I also have a Disneyland pass if you want to go!

Alternatively something people usually don't notice about me: Ethnicities usually see me as Caucasian unless I have a tan then I get mexican a ton. White people never realize I am black. Black girls tend to think "there's something about him I'm not quite sure... something about his hair maybe?". Black males on the other hand straight away are always the ones to say "YOURE DAD WAS WITH A WHITE WOMAN! My man." and proceed to high five and what not.

Well now thats a bit of a hard question I have so many and it tends to change with my mood. I'm very eclectic with music. I like most things anywhere from Billie Holliday to LMFAO, Beats antique to the Chemical brothers, Bach to Feed Me.

Movies are quite the same. I'll watch anything and usually even if its horrific have at least one good thing to say about it. All works toward making me a better filmmaker yeah? Kubrick, Burton, Speilberg I love them all. I do tend to have things that I could watch over and over though. I'm a total Star Wars nerd and Simpsons fan #1, Back to the Future, Aladdin. Think of all the movies from your childhood (if you were an 80's/90's kid) and it's probably a fav of mine. Also the more gritty and/or surreal like Pulp Fiction, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club, Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, etc. At the moment I am going through the Doctor Who series (NewWho) from the beginning.

Lets be honest... food, water, my phone, electricity, phone charger, the internet haha.

Crazy crazy things. My mind is a strange place filled with weird things, random storylines entangled all crossing paths fighting for control of the forfront of my mind. So I tend to write a lot. This helps s a filmmaker I guess haha.

Either seeing a movie, hanging with friends at disneyland or where ever, at the bar, or at home on a combination of netflix and reddit.

I have an irrational fear of a certain number. No not the one from the Jim Carrey movie...
