My self-summary
If I had to describe myself in one sentence: A ready for love geek with a social life. There's room for new friends too, I don't get hurt easily if I'm turned down.

In more detail, I'm a little on the shy-side, but I'm very talkative when I'm feeling comfortable with the people around me. I tend to worship the woman I'm with, but I mellow down soon after meeting her. I've never cheated on a girl, so that's always a positive. My dating history isn't extensive, but one might see that as a good thing.

I'm passionate about my current and long-lasting interests. Lately, my focus has been on board gaming. It's a hobby through which I've gotten to know quite a few new faces. Now we (my board gaming group and I) are in the character creation phase of a Pathfinder pen & paper roleplaying campaign.

I'm fascinated by the history of mankind. What we've achieved, where we've gone wrong, what the future holds... When someone says history seems to repeat itself, it truly does. All great empires have collapsed, it's only a matter of time and circumstance. I'm looking at you, The United States of America...

Every aspect of Japan fascinates me: the history, the culture, the art, anime, the whole package. Especially the lives of samurai. It's an expensive place to visit, I should start saving up for a trip.

Conspiracies and UFOs are fun to think about as well. Most of the theories are over the top, but some seem plausible. Oh, and when I was a kid, maybe 9 years old, I saw something in the sky that I couldn't explain...

What cracks me up the most: dirty jokes, crazy humour (like in Family Guy or anything out of the pen of Seth MacFarlane, all the Monty Python stuff) humour unique to some comics (like the Fingerpori and Gary Larson's The Far Side comics) and stand-up.

What I'm looking for here, mainly something serious or just friend-zoning.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm applying for an education in programming, so I can pursue my dream of becoming a game developer. Right now, I'm searching for an apprenticeship position in the local game studios. I didn't think you could make a living on that field, but my brother recently got hired as a game developer by a finnish game company, so that proved me wrong.

Getting in better shape and losing weight is one of my main pursuits. I mostly work out at home, using a rowing machine, an exercise bike or dumbbell weights. I've lost approximately 12 kilograms since I got more physically active last year. I've got some ways to go still.

Finding a girl that likes me for who I am, that's the ultimate goal though. Stereotypically, I love geekgirls. There's never a shortage on what to talk about with them. Girls that are incredibly active tend to stress me out. An adventure every now and then though, that's fine.
I’m really good at
Advicing people on computer matters, photoediting and graphical design, anything that has anything to do with games. Being there when you need me. Giving sage advice. Restoring furniture, as a job, was very enjoyable and I got high praise for the quality of my work. My oil painting turned out great, my father taught me some basic techniques. That hobby has been in the backburner for a while.
The first things people usually notice about me
Physically: maybe my goatee, my glasses, my large shoulders. Often times I wear hoodies and jeans, but I do dress up for special occasions. My profile photo isn't really up to date, I should update it. I don't have a mustache any more and my hair style is different.

Personality-wise: my kindness, that I might seem a little shy, that I'm well-mannered. My friends know me as someone who isn't afraid to say what he's thinking.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Novels by H. P. Lovecraft, Frank Herbert. Many fantasy writers, like R. A. Salvatore. Reading has an on / off relationship with me, I usually read more during summertime.

Movies that have a fantasy, sci-fi, historical or a war theme are commonly my favourites. There aren't in any particular order: The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Braveheart, Indiana Jones movies, Alien movies & Prometheus, Star Wars episodes I to VI (although IV to VI are the best of the bunch), Star Trek movies, The Matrix trilogy, Stargate, Kingdom of Heaven, 1492 - Conquest of Paradise, Ninth Gate, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Fire from the Sky, Saving Private Ryan, Downfall, Dune, Leon, WALL-E, Blade Runner, The Last Starfighter, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, 2001: A Space Odyssey, God and Generals, Talvisota, Ghostbusters, 300, Die Hard movies, Eyes Wide Shut, Fight Club, Conan - The Barbarian, The Devil's Rejects, Kill Bill movies, Interview with a Vampire, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Seven Samurai, 13 Assassins, Hara-kiri (the original one), Legend, The Dark Crystal, The Last Starfighter, literally too many to mention. I'll watch anything that's written well and has a good plot, so I'm not picky. Artsy movies never fail to stir up something in my soul, like Lars von Trier's Melancholia. The Hobbit, Skyfall, Oblivion, Iron Man 3 and Warm Bodies ranged from decent to brilliant, I went to see them recently in a theater.

My favourite shows right now are The Walking Dead, Vikings, Hannibal, Defiance, Game of Thrones, Dexter and Breaking Bad. Close runner-ups are Sons of Anarchy, Hell on Wheels and Falling Skies. True Blood too, but I don't feel as strongly about it anymore. Who can forget The X-files... Northern Exposure was and still is a truly heartwarming show. Star Trek has had me hooked since The Next Generation, all the way through to Enterprise. The original series didn't appeal to me as much as the newer shows. Some trekkies discriminate against Star Wars fans, but I love both universes, there's no real need to pit them against each other. Oz, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Jericho and Firefly, not to be forgotten. The Sopranos was a brilliant series, but the ending... I still have mixed feelings about it. Boardwalk Empire really captures the feel of the prohibition era. The Tudors and The Borgias, enjoyed both greatly. I often times watch some anime, series like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell: Stand-alone Complex, Samurai Champloo, Bunny Drop, Macross Frontier, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, Hellsing OVA, Monster, Death Note, Planetes. Some anime movies I want to mention: Akira, Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, Macross - Do You Remember Love?, The Secret World of Arrietty, Howl's Moving Castle.

What I mostly listen to is hard rock, pop (mainstream, finnish and sometimes j-pop or k-pop), soundtracks and classical. Rap isn't my thing, if I had to mention something I dislike. To name a few of my favourite artists: Madonna, Nightwish, Jenni Vartiainen, Metallica, Kotiteollisuus, Scandinavian Music Group, Ultra Bra, Chisu, HIM, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi. I'm not one of those people who must have music playing in the background at all times. When I do listen to music, I devulge all of my concentration to it, to fully enjoy and appreciate the music.

Some of my favourite board games: Arkham Horror, 7 Wonders (just got the expansions, which were painfully expensive, grr.), Kingdom Builder, Descent: Journeys in the Dark, Twilight Imperium, Smallworld, Elder Sign, Muchkin, Alias, Scrabble.

PC games: Skyrim, Fallout series (all of them), Civilization series, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Baldur's Gate series, Dragon Age series, Mass Effect series, SimCity series, Master of Orion series, Europa Universalis III, Victoria II, Hearts of Iron series, World of Warcraft (used to play), Lord of the Rings Online (used to play), Rift (used to play), Star Wars: The Old Republic (used to play), EVE Online (used to). MMOs eat up a huge chunk of your free time, I've tried to avoid them for some time now. A friend lured me in to Guild Wars 2, but I haven't logged in for a while now. Steam has tons of great indie games, like FTL, Don't Starve, 10.000.000, Terraria. I also enjoy roguelike games (who needs graphics?), like Dwarf Fortress, Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (zombie survival roguelike, try it!), Angband, ADOM etc.

When it comes to food, I'm not very skittish, I usually try everything. Schnitzels are pretty high on my list. Pan pizzas @ Napoli, heavenly. I don't prefer seafood, unless it's tuna or smoked salmon. Super spicy foods upset my stomach.

I'm a social drinker, so I don't sit around at home drinking. Somersby ciders, Jägermeister shots, long drinks, gin and tonic, I usually order those.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, my computer & the internet, my phone, family, sex, having a treat once in a while.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What makes the world tick. The universe. I keep nagging on myself mentally to work out more and watch what I'm eating. My friends. If the woman of my dreams has messaged me through a dating service. Why are all the great ones already taken?
On a typical Friday night I am
Either playing board games or out in a bar with my friends. If not, then I'm usually on the web, playing some game on my computer, watching some silly reality show or a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
You'll just have to get to know me, sorry. :)
