My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
What to say? I find it hard to describe the nuances of my personality in few paragraphs, but here’s a reasonably comprehensive summary:

I consider myself an independent thinker. I do my best to look at both sides of an issue before making a decision. I actively recoil from the herd mentality. I have fairly strong political opinions but I rarely like to spend time arguing them. I love it when someone can hold my attention with a good conversation. Major bonus points if you can quote ‘Arrested Development’. I am fascinated by most of the curious things on this planet and like to get in there and find some answers. I have the wonderful ability to be able to analyze the big picture and see where philosophical similarities exist. As such I love analogies and the ability to convey complex ideas as simply as possible. If you can’t break something down so a novice can get it, you probably don’t understand it fully yourself. I tend to be cyclical; diving in and learning all I can, creating, and thinking, during which time I can be quiet and withdrawn. But when I surface for air I want to spend lots of time sharing everything I have learned. I need someone who can respect my space and allow for that time without thinking something is wrong. If you talk to me while I am busy, not only will I not hear you, I may not even recall it ever happened. Talk to me when I am not preoccupied and you will find an amazing listener that will recall pieces of the conversation months and years later. I like people that have their own interests and aren’t dependent on mine for entertainment or a sense of purpose. The Myers Briggs considers me an INTP. There are dozens of us! Dozens! For those that are curious what that means (at least in terms of relationships) here is an amazingly accurate primer:

So did you read that link, or did you just skip over it? If you skipped you failed. Sorry, but thanks for playing.

My good friend says I'm the weirdest guy she knows. I consider it a compliment. I simply love irony and have a strange, sarcastic sense of humor. If you are easily offended we won’t get along. I love waking up, making a cup of coffee in my French press, grabbing a book and reading in my favorite chair. I'm a former powerlifter, kettlebell instructor, and highland games athlete so I like to hit the iron and am impressed by anyone with physical strength because I know what it takes to build it. I don’t believe in perfection and appearance is not the top of my list, but the way you treat your body tells me if you respect yourself. That said my main weakness is food and drink. I grew up in a family that values wholesome and delicious food and I am a craft beer junkie and am beginning a journey into home brewing. I tend to over indulge on occasion. I’m kind of a Star Wars nerd. I am known for making lists and spreadsheets to track things because I’m very visual. I place little value in material things beyond how they can improve my life. Money is not an end but a means. My body is a furnace surpassed only by the sun. I am almost always hot and envision myself eventually migrating to a cold, dry climate. Language is important to me and if you can’t use reasonably good grammar, and tell the difference between their, there, and they’re or your and you’re, it doesn’t mean I think you’re a bad person, but I probably won’t be able to stop twitching long enough to read what you’re trying to say. I recently learned I have many hipster tendencies. PBR and skinny jeans are not among them.

What about you? Deal breakers perhaps? Well, if you are a rude or generally inconsiderate person you’re out. Respect is a mark of civility and if you can’t give it, you won’t get it. Please don’t be needy and have your own interests. I want to share my life, not have it taken over. I am interested in growing as a person. You know filling in holes, polishing up strengths. I want someone who understands that this is a process and is willing to grow along side me. You facilitate me, and I will you. If you are supportive of me and my needs without being oppressive you will have a most loving and loyal companion. If I do something wrong, please tell me. Don’t assume that I will realize it. Oh, and if you’re especially attached to any number of thousand year old religions (except maybe Buddhism) , it won’t work. Spirituality is cool, dogma is not. Ultimately I am looking for a person that I can be my total, gloriously strange self around, and who will feel comfortable enough to be the same. Someone who can keep me challenged, and will share in all amazing stuff this life has to offer. Good and bad and absurd.
