I am right, wrong, and pretty together.
My Self-Summary
This year has been an exciting ride. What makes an exciting ride is
the really scary part at the beginning - all that anticipation and
possibility for catastrophe - the rush of the ride itself, and
getting off (the ride) in one piece. And then immediately getting
back on because the ride ROCKED!
I've been through an amazing period of self-discovery and I'm ready
to try out these skills that I've gained in this v. 2.0 of myself.
2.0 has all the benefits of 1.0, but we've worked out most of the
bugs. This version also has an increased functionality and is far
more stable than previous releases. Chief among the new features is
an intuitive interface.
OK. I'm a geek. Which is different from being a nerd, but that's a
discussion for another time. (UPDATE: This classification of myself
has been confirmed by a test. So it must be true.)
What I’m doing with my life
Working on my acting career which actually seems to be gaining
momentum.
Tending bar (to subsidize said acting career).
Learning lines. (help!)
Watching
movies.
Reading
books.
Spending too much time online.
Taking care of my cat.
Taking care of myself.
Jonesing to be able to get back to yoga (hurt my wrist last summer
- no downward facing dog for me).
I’m really good at
I'm a really good actor.
I'm really good with my Crock Pot.
I make the best damn mac and cheese. Ever.
Movie trivia - I'm only allowed to play "Scene It" with my family
if I play against everyone else.
I'm really good with animals and children which, of course, goes
counter to W.C. Fields dictum against working with those
creatures.
Listening.
Kissing.
Hugging.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes.
My laugh, which is not terribly subtle.
That I'm a "good guy", a notion I've been trying to dissuade people
of for years to no avail. Always wanted to be the bad boy, but just
couldn't carry it off. Doesn't mean I'm not twisted in my own way.
Really. Oh, never mind.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Look, my tastes are eclectic.
Movies: Everything from the oeuvres
George A. Romero to
Frederico
Fellini.
Wings of Desire is my favorite
movie of all time and I'm so psyched for the Criterion Bluray
edition of the flick.
Books: Everything from
Tolkien and
Stephen King to
Murakami and
Carver. And a hell of a lot in
between. I'm never go anywhere without a book. I'm currently
lugging around copies of Timon of Athens, Romeo & Juliet,
Hamlet, and The Bourne Supremacy. Dig it?
Music: I like a lot of stuff, but I'm a complete idiot where music
is concerned, especially if it came out after the 80's. Doesn't
mean I don't like stuff that's come out since, I just couldn't name
an artist or band that I particularly like. Except
Tom Waits. I want to be him when
I grow up.
Food: Yes. Except eggplant. And even that I'm beginning to enjoy.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
My books.
My movies.
My cat.
Acting.
My friends.
My family.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My career.
My friends and family.
How I can continue to grow.
What I'm going to make for dinner.
On a typical Friday night I am
Is there such a thing?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I sobbed uncontrollably at the end of Peter Jackson's King Kong.
Actually, I cry a lot at movies.
You should message me if
You're looking for a partner, in the truest sense. In other words,
you're someone who's independent and wants to share somebody's life
and share your life with somebody else.
You're a grown up who hasn't lost that bit of childhood that allows
them to know wonder and to play.
You're a goofball and deadly serious.
You have a twisted sense of humor.
You have a sense of humor.
You love words and movies (good and bad ones).
You aren't afraid of dating someone who leads an unconventional
life.
You're as willing to take the time to know me as I am to know
you.
You're comfortable in your own skin.
You're proud of your accomplishments but not resting on your
laurels.
Et cetera.
Look, I'm not looking for perfection. I don't believe it exists. We
all have our baggage. I know I do. Just be working it out and not
frightened of it.
