Every time I try to fill this out, I feel like I'm writing an ad
for a used car on Craigslist. "Like new! Properly-maintained!
Handles well! etc." I'm not really keen on trying to hock myself, I
I enjoy the simple things in life -- meaningful drunken human
connections, violently strong coffee, extreme backpacking,
transgressive literature, divine holy banter, blackmarket
cigarettes, treacherous, depraved cityscapes, Dionysian debauchery
I haven't got much time for boring people. What is a boring person?
A person with an unmarked passport. A person who's never truly gone
foaming-at-the-mouth mad. A person who puts career above all else.
A person who values responsibility and temperance and moderation
and self-control and discipline. A person who thinks material
possessions are signs of success. A person who can't handle their
drink. A person who's never known depravity or despair. A person
who watches television (with a few exceptions -- Breaking Bad for
What I’m doing with my life
Meandering around the globe, teaching and learning, trying to keep
my head screwed on, writing when the lightning strikes, revising
when the storm has cleared, searching for the Kerouacian 'It'.
I’m really good at
Causing cacophony, turning a quirky phrase, losing my mind and
finding it the strangest places, keeping up a quick-witted,
astutely-considered conversation on Camus and men's shampoo.
The first things people usually notice about me
The freckles around my eyes and my mangled traveler's accent.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ethnic psychologies. It's a mad world we live in but I've noticed
every nation has its own particular landscape of neuroses. I like
to think of myself as a modern day Gulliver, charting and mapping
and climbing those alien mountains of madness.
On a typical Friday night I am
Causing trouble. Looking for the most blessed banter this holy
planet has to offer. Coercing unwitting victims into rousing rounds
of karaoke. Making deals with the devil.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There's nothing I won't admit to.
