My father gave up his trumpet playing to get a career and provide
for his family. That's a decision I admire but I could tell it left
him a little bitter. But what the hell it was the fifties and
trumpet players weren't the up and coming thing.
``I've managed to stick with my music but, like the old joke
goes..
Q. What's the difference between a New Orleans musician and a large
pizza?
A. A large pizza can feed a family of four.
And yet I have no regrets because, in the end, having the courage
to dare to pursue your dreams is of more value than the size of
your house.
BTW, mine is small but quite comfortable. My house I mean.
And sure I make a living, as I don't mind working days to have what
I need, but it's time to start thinking about the next phase.
There is no reason to give up my band or to stop playing but maybe
it's time to think about starting a business, buying a farm, or
opening a bar.
