My self-summary
Hopelessly optimistic romantic seeks same for random discussions on the absurdity of life. Must like Cary Grant.

I hate peas, seriously hate peas- all peas- pea pods, mushy peas (how necessary was it to mush them??)

I'm dying to see the world from a hot air balloon- all of it (jules verne style)

My favorite winter activities would be drinking Irish coffee beside a fire and making snow angels- I make a killer snow angel. For summer I prefer picnics with wine on the water with sea lions and music. I have yet to perfect this combination, sea lions are slippery.

I love a good downpour, especially on a Sunday morning. I adore real hot chocolate- not the Swiss miss version(seriously?)

I love history- I'm a museum nerd and proud of it. Most kids went camping or to Disney world for summer vacation- we went to Williamsburg, VA and the Smithsonian.

I'm a sucker for dive bars and live music- combo them with a visit to the SAM or a stroll on a crisp autumn day and I'm a happy camper.

I like to travel- I've traveled extensively through Europe and lived for a while in the Czech Republic. It was an amazing part of my life. I'm a nomad, having lived in multiple states and cities growing up.

I've recently developed a fascination with photography- I'm still a complete amateur! I'd like to manipulate the light to create a world/object all my own. I write poetry, prose, short fiction- I love stories, creating the mythology of things.

I am thinking about learning to crochet. My goal is to create unique, poorly made fluffy hats for all.
**update: sadly no hats, one eye-patch, though. Have given up on all forms of yarn handicrafts.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying not to get hit by a bus, or a motorcycle, or a Conestoga wagon- it would suck to be trampled by oxen.
I’m really good at
Getting lost- despite the gps in my car and on my phone, I always get lost.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told my eyes first- then my laugh... A friend of mine once told me I was elegant and sarcastic- of course that was after her 6th vodka cran.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books- Milan Kundera, Tom Robbins, Haruki Murakami, Paulo Coelho, Jane Austen, Audrey Niffenegger, Jeffery Eugenides...

Movies- Howl's Moving Castle, Moonrise Kingdom, Amelie, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, the third man (most film noir), Casablanca, most Hitchcock, ghostbusters (love bill murray), so I married an axe murderer, foul play (70s screwball!) princess bride(of course) Maltese falcon, Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Music- so I've just discovered Noah and the whale (love!)- also Elbow (!!) and Simone White, Emilianna Torrini, Margot and the Nuclear so and sos, and Hey Marseilles (happy!) And of course there's iron and wine, Sigur ros, Florence and the machine, Dessa, Laura Marling, massive attack, Ani DiFranco, Yeasayer, miles davis, the national, black keys, Portugal the man, the Beatles, Nina Simone, Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, simon and Garfunkel, Regina Spector...

TV- I don't really watch too much television, however I'm addicted to BBC's Sherlock and I've just been introduced to the IT Crowd and That Michell and Webb Look- hilarious!
The six things I could never do without
Lazy Sundays, peach cobbler, all varieties of cheese, classic films, a good story, the irresistible flutter when you meet that certain person, autumn, obscure 80s references, and of course... Unicorns.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The weather and pie, sometimes I find myself creating stories in my head for strangers on the street- or ruminating on the type of fertilizer I would use if I had a lawn. What is reality if not merely our perception of it? Is it possible to domesticate a puma? But mostly it's just about pie...
On a typical Friday night I am
Visiting with friends, drinking vino, checking out a film/show, or lately curled up with a good book...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm partially escalaphobic- doesn't hinder me, just takes a minute longer to get on.

I have a very sensitive nose. Certain people/smells can trigger my gag reflex or make me sneeze for hours (no joke- hours). So please smell nice.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 35–43
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
A) You have something to say other than "Hey! I like your profile. Hit me up." I prefer thoughtful sentences.... Maybe an adjective thrown in occasionally for good measure.

2) you'd like to meet (oh, I can email forever, but it's better in person) and think you can make me laugh. I like finding humor in the mundane routines we employ everyday.

I would love to find a sarcastic wit to spar with, a strong hand to keep me steady and maybe even an adventurous soul to explore with.
