My self-summary
I'm a complicated bloke in an uncomplicated shell. Haven't been in a relationship in at least a year and am finding it almost impossible to meet people via the traditional methods (considering I work from home, my friendship group has become worryingly incestuous and I'm not really a fan of 'clubbing').

To write anything else would surely be to give the game away. And where would be the fun in that?
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm in 2 bands, one of which has just released a very well received album, I'm also in the midst of writing a novel. I pay the bills as a writer, primarily a music critic for a variety of websites and magazines but also (for my sins) am not adverse to the odd bit of mind numbingly dull copywriting work (guess which pays more?) and spend most of my free time either at the pub, writing music, off on random adventures or wasting time on movies, books and/or games (then again I'm with John Lennon, "time you enjoy wasting is not wasted"). Travelled extensively as part of a variety of bands (some good, some not so good) but only ever really saw the back of a van and a lot of dingy dressing rooms so I'm always up for a getaway to somewhere exotic... like Grimsby(sic).
I’m really good at
Musics, writing and very little else. Pub quizzes maybe? Oh I can finish Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive in under an hour with all 7 chaos emeralds! That impressive enough for ya?
The first things people usually notice about me
My overwhelmingly dry, sarcastic wit (sic) and perennially shit beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
well this is gonna be a pretty long-winded section:-

Books - Mainly reading graphic novels at the moment to be honest (Y:The Last man, Sandman, Maus, anything by Alan Moore) but I love a good fantasy epic, most high concept science fiction (Iain Banks, Frank Herbert etc) and anything by Stephen King (Dark Tower books especially) Terry Pratchett, Philip Pulman or Stephen Fry. Just recently finished the millenium trilogy (cause everyone was banging on about it) and was mildly impressed but not overly fussed. It's a dramatic cliche but my favourite book is probably catcher in the rye. if you were ever a 15 year old boy (and if your reading this profile i damn sure hope you wern't!) you'd understand... Poetry's pretty nifty too.

Movies - mainly into independant cinema, occassionally i'll be asked to review a movie for work so i'm one of those irritating bastards who'll criticize even the most inconsequential plot-hole or character flaw in a movie. Favourite film of all time is without a doubt 'It's a Wonderful Life' because I'm a sap at heart. REALLY enjoyed a small Australian film called Mary and Max which i saw recently and i heartily recommend it to all and sundry. More into TV drama than movies these days.

Music - I live for music really. I could write an essay on this but I'll just say I love anything inspiring, be it rock, hip-hop, electronica, jazz, soul... whatever. I have room in my heart for anything. Right now (November 2012) my time is divided between the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor record (possibly the best album of the decade thus far), early Miles Davis, Frank Ocean, Frank Zappa, noisy post-hardcore from Belgium (honestly) and a wonderful little group from Newcastle called Lanterns On The Lake. I wholeheartedly recommend all of them. Also if you've never heard 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley, do so right now because it's the most gorgeous thing you'll ever put between your ears.

TV (it's the new cinema dontcha know) - House, Supernatural, The Wire, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Community, 30 Rock, Peep Show, It's Always Sunny in Philedelphia, Fringe, Lost, The Inbetweeners, Boardwalk Empire, Father Ted, Mad Men, The Simpsons, South Park, Futurama, Battlestar Galactica, Chuck, Family Guy, Nikita, Homeland, BOB'S fucking BURGERS!
The six things I could never do without
Guitars, Music, Guinness... Selotape...Pajamas...Jalapeño Poppers... this question's daft.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either down my local pub with a few friends, at a gig or at home lamenting my lack of dolla.

If you're willing to put up with a kind hearted yet mildly neurotic bloke with a tendency to spontaneously burst into song, give me a bell. You (probably) won't regret it.
