I am an introvert by nature, but have learned how to be extroverted
when needed. I don't tend to get uptight about the little things. I
was married for 13 years and had an amicable split. I am still
friends with my ex. I do not have any kids and do not plan on
having any. I don't believe in love at first sight. I am agnostic.
I don't smoke and only rarely drink. I like to dance, but have no
rhythm. I like to sing, but can't carry a tune. In fact, there are
a number of things I like to do but am not good at. I am, however,
very good at laughing at myself. I share a house with my mom, who
is my best friend, and our three dogs. I think you have to be
friends first before you can think about a relationship.
What I’m doing with my life
My current occupation is high school social studies teacher. I have
done other things in the past, and will do new things in the
future. I'm not the kind of person who likes to work the same job
for 30 years.
I am currently addicted to hanjie puzzles.
I’m really good at
Seeing multiple sides of an issue, and I am comfortable with
paradoxes within my own belief system.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm really not sure what most people notice about me. To be honest,
I've never asked nor have I learned how to read minds.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite genre of books is fantasy and sci-fi. My rankings on
movie types would be action first, then comedy, romance, and drama.
I do not like horror movies. With music, I like a lot of different
genres: country, pop, top 40's, oldies, classic rock....
The six things I could never do without
(I'm stuck on a 6th one)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lately I have been contemplating things I read in online profiles.
Please feel free to contact me if you can add any insights on these
ponderings. (my wry sense of humor may not come across in type, but
trust me, I'm smiling as I write this)
1. When they say they are looking for a woman who takes care of
herself - is that the PC way of saying 'good-looking and skinny'?
If not, then what would qualify as not taking care of yourself?
Would they respond to someone who was overweight but meditated? Is
this a way of saying they need a job?
2. "no games, no drama" - are people really a) self-aware enough to
recognize in themselves a preference for games and/or drama; and b)
are they conscientious enough to say 'oh, guess I won't contact
him'? Or, is this a case of 'methink the man (sic) doth protest too
3. What is it with saying you are a non-smoker, but then have a
profile picture smoking a cigar? Do cigars not count as smoking in
the context of online profiles?
4. How many of us recognize the absurdity of our own online
I haven't read any women's profiles, or I'm sure I would have had
On a typical Friday night I am
Happy that the week is over. Friday nights are for relaxing and\or
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't like bowling. I'm mostly an open book.
