I am adjective 1, adjective 2, and adjective 3..

My Self-Summary

I am creative and intelligent and witty. I am artistic but I don't plan on cutting off my ear any time soon. I have hubris.

If you are interested in a fun, spontaneous person with MANY interests then I am your guy. If you are interested in someone who examined the mathematic group theory structure of the Briggs-Myers types for fun and then wrote a song about "Lord of the Flies" all in the same weekend, then I am definately your guy. Not that I do that when I hang out with other people but you get the idea. I am a unique snowflake. And I am not unique snowflake. That's called a dialetheia by the way. I am also very interested lately in the varying ways that a double-negative doesn't necessarily cancel out.

What I’m doing with my life

I work for Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where our motto is, seriously, "Saving Lives, Millions at a Time". I don't know how many lives I have saved but I have definitely killed a lot of trees.

I am writing a book on Meinong, meaning, and the metaphysics of meta-paradox.

I am working on my rock band's next next album. Our next one is just about to come out so I am on to the one after that...

I am reading 2 books currently:
"Semantics and Common Sense" & "Body Language & Social Order" - both of which were finds at the Book Thing. (Free bookstore in Charles Village).
I just finished "Wittgenstein's Poker" which I recommend highly.

I am raising my 2 year old son 3 days out of the week. No I am not looking for a "mommy replacement" to do my childrearing for me. He is actually super sweet.

I do yoga. Sporadically when my friends drag me to a class.

I’m really good at

Songwriting. I play in a rock band called "landspeedrecord!". We have many CDs out. Ask and I will send you some mp3s if you like alternative rock music. The lyrics are dark while I am easy going and happy. Music is cathartic for me, I suppose.

I am also really good at problem solving and writing short quasi-essays about myself that fit into virtual boxes the size of an index card.

I'm really good at wherever I am.

The first things people usually notice about me

I am outgoing and not afraid to drool my opinion onto anyone willing to put their ears under my mouth. That or my sense of humor.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: ANYTHING BY GEORGES BORGES!!!! Confederacy of Dunces, Ubik, Lord of the Flies, Running with Scissors, Chronicle of a Death Fortold, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, No Exit, Ubu Roi, George Orwell, Lots of math and science non-fiction, More to come...

Movies: Little Murders, Brazil, Amalie, Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Buffalo '66, Pan's Labrynth, Any Stanley Kubrick film, Any Cohen Brothers film, The Seventh Seal, Holy Grail, Still thinking about this one... more to come.

Music: The Future of the Left, XTC, At the Drive In, Bauhaus, Syd Barrett, Robyn Hitchcock, Devo, Talking Heads, Jesus Lizard, Can, Brian Eno, Amon Tobin, The Police, David Bowie, Fugazi, Guided by Voices, Government Issue, Pink Floyd, Mad Professor, King Krimson, Wire, Ween, They Might be Giants, Built to Spill, Nirvana, the Clash, Oingo Boingo, New Order, Hot Hot Heat, Gang of Four, The Evil Queens, Squarepusher, the Who, Exile, Queens of the Stone Age

Food: Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Sushi, Mexican, American - in that order.

The six things I could never do without

1) Sleep. Goddamn I love sleep. I need 9 hours a day. Really.
2) Food. I love thai food. If you can cook thai I want to come over now.
3) Affection. Physical or emotional. All mammals need it! It's a fact!
4) A sense of humor. If you don't have one please go away.
5) Sarcasm. This shields me from people who don't have a sense of humor.
6) Learning. When I stop learning I get restless.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Why. Why this and why that. I am like a 3 year old that way. I am always wondering why and what if.

Philosophy (particularly metaphysics). Magmas. Ambiguity (I am serious). Songs I am writing. Cognitive Science. A.I.

For instance, tonight I wondered if it was possible for a logically contradictory object to have a referent. If that sounds stupid, google Meinong. Then it won't sound stupid anymore.

On a typical Friday night I am

Reading. Seeing a movie. Going to a rock show. Being in a rock show. Eating out. It depends. I try to keep some variation going. I never watch TV though. Not any night of the week.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

that people who have read the book "the Secret" and actually believe it scare me. A lot.

You should message me if

You want to go get a coffee and talk.

I have some friends that say that online dating consists of skittish people emailing one another for months before they work up the nerve to meet. That seems totally silly to me! I am new to online dating, but I am definitely here to meet people. In person.

If you are interesting it doesn't have to be about going on a date. I like interesting people any day of the week. Boring is okay too, but only if you are exceptionally nice.
