-I have a full time job
-I own my own vehicle
-I do not live with my parents
-I do not have children (though do one day hope to)
-I do not do drugs, even the now legal marijuana
Okay, whew, now that we got through that, on to the more detailed bits. I have lived in the area most of my life, growing up on the Kitsap Peninsula and living in Seattle twice for about a total of five years. I keep close with my family, even though many of them live on the east coast. I was in school pursuing an associates degree as a medical assistant until I got my current job working for the Navy. It's a pretty great job, even though right now my commute during the week is rather lengthy.
Before my current job, I worked on ocean going tug boats and traveled some interesting places for that. It was hard work, but kinda cool to go places I normally wouldn't have gotten the chance to. Before that I worked for a Seattle tour and charter boat company for several years, so I know quite a few random facts about the area. Comes in handy when friends and family from out of town come to visit.
In my free time I like exploring around. One of my favorite things to do is go for drives around the city, with no real destination in mind. I discovered a wonderful park doing this, that is now one of my favorite spots to sit and have a sandwich and just look out at Lake Washington. I'm thinking one of these days I'll have to gather some friends and go have a bonfire at Golden Gardens too, but that requires a little bit more planning than Jimmy John's and a vacant log.
I also like creating things. When I was injured at work a couple years ago and had nothing but free time and limited ability to get around, I put my knot tying skills from my boy scout and sailor days to work making all sorts of stuff from parachute cord. I started with just a neon pink dog leash for my mom (she loves her dog and the color pink), and branched out from there. Lately I've been making monkey's fist keychains and whatnot for people at work.
I also enjoy cooking quite a bit, and baking to a lesser extent. I've come up with some pretty great recipes on the fly, and my stuff is always a hit when we have potlucks at work. I've had my flops too though, so I can't claim to be mister perfect in the kitchen.
I still try to do a spot of photography here and there, though I haven't really pulled out my good camera in a few months. That may change soon though with the weather getting nicer. I mostly enjoy shooting nature, landscapes, and animals, but occasionally I will take pictures of people. Once upon a time I even had a small hanging for the art walk in Pioneer Square.
There's plenty more to me, but I have to leave us something to talk about, right? Thanks for reading!
