My self-summary
I'm someone looking for a dream and the right person to share it with. I taught English in Japan, worked as a video editor for a video game company, and I just finished law school. I like being social and am trying to get better at swing dancing, but also appreciate a quiet night at home.

What I like to do most on weekends is spend time with a small group of close friends: watching a movie, playing board games, going to a concert or event, or simply grabbing dinner and spending time--whatever's fine. It's the people that are important, not the activity. I also just recently got an electric cello, and it is BEAUTIFUL.

I am kind, free-thinking, and whimsical. I've also lived pretty much everywhere in America (basically).

Pleased to meet you!
What I’m doing with my life
Skiing, dancing (Rumba, Salsa, and Swing), writing, reading, spending time with friends, playing the cello, game design, some volunteering... really just searching for a better tomorrow.
I’m really good at
Getting things done, supporting my friends, and staying positive.
The first things people usually notice about me
I smile a lot. Pretty constantly in fact.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austin), Good Omens (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman), Guns Germs and Steel (Jared Diamond),All in the Timing (David Ives)

Movies - Sneakers, Casablanca, Sabrina, The American President, A Knight's Tale, 12 Angry Men, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ratatouille, The Usual Suspects, Stranger than Fiction

TV shows - West Wing, Firefly, Pushing Daisies, The Daily Show, Castle, Burn Notice, Chuck, Community.

Music - Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper), Come Undone (Duran Duran), Who Will Save Your Soul (Jewel), Where the Streets Have No Name (U2), Sweet Child o' Mine (Guns n' Roses), Must be Dreaming (Frou Frou), Black Horse and Cherry Tree (KT Tunstall), Ray of Light (Madonna), Bring Me to Life (Evanescence), Token of the Wreckage (Megan Slankard), Bent (Matchbox 20), Wreck of the Day (Anna Nalick), Rolling in the Deep (Adele).
The six things I could never do without
My friends. Whether hanging out or just calling them cross-country on the phone, they're the one thing I really couldn't get by without.

Books, movies, games and any good story. I get addicted.

And to round things out:
humor
adventure
smiles,
and a nice autumn breeze with just a hint of frost.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Really, everything.

I'm really interested in the law, social issues, and media/technology, but also fun and interesting things going on in the world and whatever was on NPR this morning. I'm the guy who posts a dozen interesting articles a week on facebook and who thinks it's hilarious that prairie dogs talk about us behind our backs (it's true).

I used to work in the video game industry, and I have a passion for free speech, fair use, and other tech-nerdy issues, along with civil liberties and basic fairness.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, watching movies, working on small projects, going out dancing, playing the cello, board games and video games, or curling up with a good book. I keep things low key.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Most of the time I'm only half-serious. Okay, maybe 60/40.

And I always tell the truth--for a given value of true.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 27–38
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're smart, kind, quirky, know who you are (or at least are looking), and are generally positive/hopeful. Of life, the future, meeting new and exciting people... I think hope's pretty important in a person. It keeps things fun.

Honestly though, message me if you want to. I get busy, but I try to reply... whenever I remember okcupid exists... :)
