From ENTP to ENTJ...but I am still an ENTP

This is rather interesting.

All my life I'd been testing as ENTP. Now that I finally figured out all my business strategies and began to successfully execute them, I've become an ENTJ, according to this test.

That's rather fascinating because apparently as you move from having an employee's mindset to having a business owner's mindset, that changes the personality this much.

Hmm, however, I still feel that I am an ENTP.

I'll be looking into this for more insight when I find more time.

An image of quagmar My understanding is that each consecutive letter becomes more permanent as you age, with the P/J axis not really solidifying until some time in your mid-thirties. But even if that's not the case, my theory is that as you learn new skills, you employ the ones that work best in each situation. When you take the MBTI, it is difficult to answer with more than one context in mind, and whatever context you decide is "dominant" at the time will prevail. Thus, you may be more ENTP, but act more ENTJ in certain situations, and answer accordingly. They're all a spectrum, anyway, not binary. For context, I have traditionally been an ENTP, but have tested with one or both the T and P switching to F and J.

Even the creator of the most popular test admits that it can be wrong 25% of the time. After you take the test you must study what the result means, understand the various types and know thyself. Only by this means can you truly know and understand your type. One's type is supposed to be unvarying, by the way, though as we get older we explore the skills of the letters we don't have.
