My self-summary
I'm creative and passionate about everything in life. I love new experiences and learning - bit of an eternal student I guess.

I'm also a bit of a tree-hugging Mother Earth lover and get involved in supporting environmental and social issues.

I love to laugh, smile and occasionally be downright silly.

I enjoy renaissance fairs, and love to spend time sipping mead, making friends and singing along in an open air tavern.

I am a sci-fi and fantasy geek. My references and symbol set are liberally sprinkled with this genre.

I am NOT pretentious. I drive a dented and bruised up rattlin', engine tickin', muffler leakin', oil burnin', upholstery coffee - stained, leather seats cracked, passenger seat full of mail and coffee cups, but dearly loved and incredibly reliable '97 Chevy Tahoe which I affectionately refer to as 'The Antichrist' - if you've seen 'The Gods must be crazy' you get the reference (and no, my Tahoe's really NOT as bad as THE Antichrist of filmdom, but I got a 4 wheel drive vehicle for a reason and well, camping, hiking and going out regardless of the weather takes a toll on a vehicle.

At heart I'm an easy going, casual person. I'm a farm boy originally. Yes, I clean up really well, and can be quite dapper and stylish when appropriate, but prefer jeans and comfy shirt whenever possible.

I am creative and musica, curious and friendly, and quirky and romantic
What I’m doing with my life
Retail management for a coffee company, I currently spend most of my free time making music and art, and enjoy working with a not for profit organization in Western Massachusetts.

I've studied music, art, graphic design and history and spent many years on a local Fire dept. and Rescue Squad as well as time in Montana and Wyoming fighting wild fires with the State Forest Fire Service.

I sing with a ritual performance group which has participated at the parliament of the world's religions in Barcelona last summer. I've toured Iceland and studied a celtic shamanic tradition in Scotland and can't wait for the next adventure... hoping to meet someone special with whom I can share part of my life.
I’m really good at
I love to cook and bake - huge fan of the food network, especially Good Eats and Iron Chef. I miss cooking for more than one person - do you know anyone that would like a nice five course meal or an entree for a dozen person pot-luck dinner? I have chaffing dishes and I'm not afraid to use them.

I spend a lot of my free time with creative, artistic endeavors and love to learn new crafts. I enjoy working in acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, pencil and charcoal, terracotta sculpture, silk painting and resin casting. I can sew - although it's not one of my strongest crafty skills, and I definitely enjoy writing and blogging.
The first things people usually notice about me
Definitely stand out in a crowd. I'm six foot six, and although I don't think I'm exceptionally attractive, my bright blue eyes are one of my best features - and if I do say so, I have a genuinely warm smile and a great voice.

Oh yeah, my hair is currently still long enough for a pony-tail. It suited me when I was looking for specific theatrical roles, and more interested in historical reenactments, Renn Faires, Pirate Band - singing songs of the sea and such -the length is probably going to change soon...I've blogged about it, and thought about it and well...ok, I'm stalling - but not for much longer.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books would include anything by Tolkien or C.S. Lewis,Robert Jordan, classics from Asimov,Clarke, Dick, Heinlein and Herbert. Also enjoy Brit. Lit. especially Wodehouse and Thorndike.

I enjoy non-fiction. Love Joseph Campbell - He's One of my heroes.

Lord of the Rings TrilogyPrincess Bride, Pirates of the Caribbean,Big Trouble in Little China, Zorro the Gay Blade, almost anything by George Lucas or Tim Burton, Anything silly, odd and potentially gruesome from Sam Raimi(especially if it includes Bruce Campbell), Boondock Saints, Bedazzled.

I'll admit to being a bit of an Anglophile and enjoy most anything I can catch from the BBC - especially fond of Jeeves and Wooster, Fawlty Towers and Chef

Music...Big fan of Celtic music such as Loreena McKennitt and world beat, various ethnic musics like Gypsy Kingsand Zydeco - especially Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys as well as Classical and classic folk, country and blugrass music.

I love food. sushi, Thai, Moroccan, Spanish, Indian, mushrooms, goat cheese, fresh greens, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, habaneros, Jalapenos, yum yum yum.
The six things I could never do without
Not necessarily in any particular order:

1. Good pair of hiking boots

2. Music - almost any type. My CD collection looks like Sam Goody's

3. Keyboard (both computer and musical varieties please

4. Coffee (preferably Indonesian, or Espresso - "if you only knew the power of the Dark Roast. Your Barista never told you what happened to your Latte.")

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the universe and everything. When am I moving? When is my next trip to Scotland or Iceland or Spain or anywhere for that matter.

Keeping an optimistic outlook, realizing how much I really do like myself just the way I am, scanning the horizon for new adventures and turning into the wind to see where it takes me...

On a typical Friday night I am
Doing whatever I can conjur up. Well, ok, I'm probably working - since I currently have no other plans - hey, wanna make plans? Did I mention that I love to cook?...

If I'm fortunate enough to be free, I'll likely be out dancing or listening to/singing along with one of my favorite Irish bands at The Auld Shebeen.

After that I'll more likely than not be online, blogging and catching up with emails or checking up on the weeks adventures with my friends on MySpace...yes, I have a MySpace - originally to keep connected with and in communication with a specific group, but I've come to be addicted to blogging and connecting with new friends this way.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm really a bit shy around people to whom I am attracted.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 32–88
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Any reason - I love to meet people, share stories and engage in general chat.

***BONUS POINTS to anyone who knows the connection between my fiction hero George Lucas and my non-fiction hero Joseph Campbell. If you do, you've probably won my heart - well...ok, at least a date or the very least my undying respect and friendship ;)
