I am intelligent, loyal, and caring.
My Self-Summary
I am a genuinely kind person. I enjoy my work, love a good book,
care about what happens in the world, and see the best in people.
Also, I hate trying to summarize who I am. Summing myself up is
worse than going to the dentist (and those that know me know that
going to the dentist is one of the worst things I have to do). I
have spent a lot of time in that ivory education tower and earned
my degrees in English, though I am more proud of my MFA in Creative
Writing. I am a little dorky, romantic, dreamy, whimsical, but
always hopeful. That always makes anything else work out.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a high school teacher who loves her job, but also a writer and
creative thinker. I am part of a poetry writing group. My friends
are also really important to me. We have fun eating out, listening
to local music, going to the many summer festivals, or just having
fun talking. My main goal is to be happy and make the world a
better place by treating people with an open mind and heart. That
almost sounds like a Miss America pageant answer. Sadly, it is true
though-- the being happy part, not the beauty queen part.
I’m really good at
making horrible jokes, dancing to the beat of my own drummer,
baking bread, using big words, and being generally sarcastic. Why
must I write about myself this way?
The first things people usually notice about me
would be my blue eyes and quirky disposition. I tend to be shy at
first, but then talk forever once I know someone.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Too many to mention-- Nancy Silverton's Bread book,
Salinger's Franny and Zooey, William Stafford's poems, and cozy
mysteries, plus a million and seven others. I am sort of book
fiend.
Movies: Harold and Maude, Amelie, anything from Pedro Almodovar,
Breakfast at Tiffany's-- a weird mix, I know. Stir in a little
Breakfast Club, a few episodes of Dexter, and the entire Law and
Order franchise.
Music: a large spectrum-- from Indigo Girls to REM to Bob Marley to
Lily Allen to The Cure to Classical to The Beatles-- my itunes
looks like a schizophrenic meltdown.
Food: I may be a vegetarian, but love any kind of good food. Thai,
Mexican, Veggie Sushi, chocolate, italian, yum yum yum
The six things I could never do without
hope, good books, friends and family, ice cold water, poetry, music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to make things better, how to forgive, how to instill
confidence and self belief in my students, how beautiful the
sunrise is, how words can be magic
On a typical Friday night I am
either with friends for dinner and live music or at home, with a
glass of wine, good book, and chocolate
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I am tired of looking for the right guy. Really, I have had the
worse luck or maybe made bad choices. In all honesty, I believe
he's out there and if I find him here, awesome. If I meet a good
friend, just as good.
You should message me if
you want to meet a girl who is smart, genuinely kind, and who has a
big heart. Maybe take a chance and meet someone new. Maybe check
out the art museum or have a drink at Alterra. Maybe just because
you want to be dazzled by my wit and charm and have a lot of fun.
