My self-summary
In the not too distant past I have been a musician and a university tutor in computer sciences, but I'm currently a software developer.
I moved to Edinburgh from Ireland just over a year ago for a new job. I'm pretty bad at making new friends unless I already have some to bounce off of. Bit of a catch 22 really. I'm getting there slowly though.
What I’m doing with my life
I got a job as a software developer last July, but spent much of the previous 10 years working as a musician and teacher. My education background was in IT (software development more specifically) and I used my qualifications to get work as a part-time tutor/teacher while I spent my nights in pubs and clubs thrashing away on guitar. I was looking for a change of pace, so I moved to Belfast to combine my two big interests in a music tech masters degree, which led to this job. I'm still trying to adjust to a 'normal' 9-5 type routine after 10 years living as a bum... It's interesting.
Other than that I'm still listening to music all the time and trying to integrate playing and songwriting into my new lifestyle. I have a 1977 VW camper van that I really should take better care of and take on more trips. But road trips are less fun without a wingman or a navigator/navigatrix ;)
I recently moved into a flat by myself. Living alone for the second time in my life. I've reached an age where sharing a flat with total strangers has zero appeal for me.
I’m really good at
I can sing and play guitar pretty well. It doesn't really matter if I'm in front of people or not, singing and playing makes me feel at ease... I'm good with money... I'm a pretty good cook... I'm good with computers and technology.
The first things people usually notice about me
Nobody has ever really said... I dunno... physically? Eyes and smile... as a person? Warm and friendly with a fondness for laughter.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In reverse order because it's easier:
Food: Mexican, Italian, Indian, Japanese (Sushi), Thai, Chinese, Spanish... who am I kidding... I just love food!

Music:
I grew up on The Doors, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Bod Dylan, Bob Marley and David Bowie (thanks Parents!).
In my youth I was all about Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage against the machine, Wheezer, Jeff Buckley and Beck.
These days I'm listening to a lot of Fleet Foxes, Elbow, Scott Matthews, Rufus Wainwright, Bon Iver, C.W. Stoneking, lots of jazz, folk, blues, funk and soul.
I guess my favourite band throughout my life has been Radiohead though, they're constantly changing and reinventing.

TV Shows:
Arrested Development, Curb your enthusiasm, The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd, Californication, Sherlock, The Wire, Nature programmes in HD... Always on the lookout for a box set that I can go through in a week, I don't really watch live TV much anymore.

Movies:
I like comedy, sci-fi, fantasy, epic movies, thriller and drama. I don't much like rom com or horror but I'll actually sit through anything.
I love the old Star Wars movies, 2001 (Kubrick in general), Apocalypse now, Tarantino movies, Silly movies like Anchorman, scott pilgram vs the world. The prestige was a recent favourite.

Books:
2010: I was reading Cormac McCarthy and Steig Larsson.
2011: I went through a bunch of classics that I'd never read when I was younger, including Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, 1984, Animal Farm, The Great Gatsby.
Last books I read were Notes from a small Island by Bill Bryson, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Whisperer by Donato Carrisi, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón,
2012: currently reading the Book Thief by Markus Zusak (with very little success).
The six things I could never do without
family, friends, music, guitar, laptop, phone... Or should that read: water, food, shelter, sleep, money, other people?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future, my life and what I'm meant to be doing with it, love and happiness.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm not on a plane or a fast train then I'm usually trying to find a gig to go to or a movie to watch and a beer to drink. Pubs are good but I hate night clubs.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My favourite pizza topping is artichoke and my favourite apples are pink lady despite being called pink lady....I'm quite private. I don't share private information with strangers, but that all changes when I get to know someone... My real name is Keith. How's that for a start?
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 25–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You're bisexual, have a superhuman sex drive and prefer to post profile pics of your cleavage rather than your face... um, actually no, strike that. Reverse it... let's move on.

If you live in Edinburgh, and you like to go out to gigs, movies, dinner, coffee etc. The occasional outdoor excursion is always good. I'm not looking for love, but meeting new friends is always fun.
