My version of 'retirement' includes various temp office assignments and volunteering at places I enjoy doing things I like, and having more time to spend with family/friends.
I am only occasionally lonely -- being busy is the best cure for that. But there's still lots of stuff to do/see/ learn/enjoy in this life and this world, and it's all more special when shared, isn't it?
I'm independent, educated, and about a million other things, too. Having lived 6 decades, I've learned many life lessons and understand myself pretty well. I would expect that to be the same for most gentleman my age.
