My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a down-to-earth, introspective gal. I like to smell roses, pet cats, smile at babies, revel in the sounds of trees and water, and watch people milling about in cities. I am silly and pragmatic, thoughtful yet daring, quiet but witty, sensitive but tough.

I'm looking for a partner with whom to share love, comfort, laughter, adventure, exploration, challenges, support, and whatever else we decide to cook up.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Appreciating it. Learning, growing, and engaging with the world in my own small ways. Regularly falling short of my ideals, then picking myself up and marching onward.

I love bike touring, bicycling in general, sharing drinks and meals with friends, playing silly tabletop games, going to comedy shows, taking long walks, hiking, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and writing creative nonfiction. I do a variety of volunteer work.

By day, I'm a mild-mannered software tester.

By night, I occasionally sing karaoke.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
* Playing word games
* Listening and empathizing
* Articulating my thoughts
* Projecting a sense of calm
* Giving the appearance of geekery
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a quick smile and a sharp mind. I've also been described as having a "wholesome" vibe, which is accurate in some ways, but I'm not afraid to make dirty jokes either. I will probably laugh at your puns and might make a few of my own, too. (I'm competitive like that.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: essays, humor, travelogue, memoir (Bill Bryson, Cheryl Strayed, Sarah Vowell)

Movies and TV: quirky, funny, genuinely emotional, thought-provoking ("That Thing You Do!", "Rushmore", "MST3K", "The Office", "Freaks and Geeks", "Gilmore Girls", "Parks and Recreation")

Music: indie rock, alt country, whatever's good (Neko Case, Modest Mouse, Bell X1, Joni Mitchell, The Kills, The Flaming Lips, Ben Folds)

Food: home-cooked meals, pizza, Thai, Cuban, brunch

Other entertainment: standup comedy, storytelling (Louis CK, John Mulaney, Patton Oswalt, The Nerdist, The Moth)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Friends: They are hilarious, smart, ambitious, and caring. I'm grateful for each of them.

Quiet places: I like a park bench, a patch of grass, or a coffee shop where I can sit and focus on a book, or get some writing done, or zone out with people-watching.

Occasional sunshine: This is self-explanatory to Portlanders, right? :-)

Desserts: Particularly strawberry rhubarb pie, ice cream, and anything with cinnamon or chocolate.

Curiosity: I don't like feeling stagnant. Life can be dull and discouraging at times, but I strive not to let it get the best of me as long as I have new sights to see and new subjects to learn about.

Bikes: I never feel quite as happy and free as when I'm riding my bike, especially if I'm using it to explore far-off places.

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I eat Cocoa Puffs on a fairly regular basis. (Note that "regular" does not mean "frequent".)
