My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm pretty easy-going, I get excited about stuff, and I'm not afraid of the world. I would probably like you a lot if we met.

So, I'm a mix of things, I suppose like everyone else. I'm really smart about some things (though not arrogant), and somewhat dumb about others. I don't fully belong anywhere - not in the former Soviet republic of Ukraine, where I was born and grew up, not here in the USA (which so kindly took me in and raised me), and not really in Europe (which I constantly long to visit). But I fit in pretty well, in most situations.

I love - sailing and the water, books, computers, ridiculous conversations, road trips, and feeding people (I make killer pasta, steak, pancakes, waffles, etc). I'm learning how to draw, though still kind of bad at it. I don't know a ton about music (so you should introduce me to some!), but I love going to concerts and live shows.

What else. I moved to Portland area several years ago, and still exploring it. (I live on Peaks Island, right off the coast). I have a sailboat which I love, and take weekend-long (and week-long, if I'm lucky) trips during the summer.

I'm married (to thelearnedcat on here), and poly. (Live in a triad, actually, in a big house with a million animals and books and artists).

I want - well, uh, everything. Friends, partners, people to watch movies with and play board games, take road trips to festivals or book conventions, and go on general adventures with.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Making software/web apps, sailing, reading and watching and playing, traveling, learning stuff.

Gathering courage, skills and experience to run a startup or two, make some interesting changes to the world.

I'm not an artist myself, in the traditional sense, I tend to hang around a lot of them (hell, married to an amazing one), and help them with their projects tech-wise.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Free association. But also:
Cooking breakfast, understanding, seeing connections, realizing implications, dreaming. (I'm good at making russian blini for example. Which are like crepes, but slightly sweeter.).

I sometimes feel I am an author's or an artist's perfect fan -- I appreciate works deeply, I hoard books, maps, old games, and beautiful things, and feel it is my mission in life to share them with people.

I'm pretty good at programming, too.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My great personal dignity? No, wait, exact opposite.
Probably my animated style of talking (I'm either really quiet, or ranting and talking with my hands, etc). I tend to be really enthusiastic about things.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The water (sea, ocean or large lake), books, smart and stimulating company, seafood, games, intimacy and physical affection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Traveling, people and relationships, the Buy Local movement, technology and good design, clever code, good books, feral artificial intelligences. About what I would do if I had to give up writing software for a living (still not sure. medicine? massage therapy? confrontational performance art?), and whether I would make a good rebel cult leader on Mars. Which I would.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Most likely on the road. In the summer, I take sailing and camping trips almost every weekend. I also go to a lot of conventions -- literary, scifi and tech conventions, as well as a lot of out-of-town trips to see friends.

When I'm in town, I'm either hanging out with friends, going out for coffee, or just cuddling at home, watching movies and playing video games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I like all 3 of the Matrix Movies (though I should rewatch them again). And Dusk Till Dawn. And Eyes Wide Shut. And Hello Kitty.
