I am calm, determined, and open.
My Self-Summary
My name is Keith and I recently moved to the Philadelphia area
after living in Minnesota all my life. I'm glad to be here, though,
and I'm looking for friends and love interests alike. I'm fairly
tall and pretty lanky, and have a very easy-going and relaxed way
of going about my life.
I listen to music or watch television while I do other things quite
frequently. I'm an internet junkie and can often be found at work
reading news or Wikipedia about interesting topics - I really love
to learn. I also really enjoy being around people in small groups
or one on one, though parties and dances haven't really ever been
my scene. I love talking one on one, too, and learning about people
who I'm close to or want to be close to.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a test engineer for Lockheed Martin in Moorestown, NJ. I
graduated from the University of Minnesota in May 2008 with a
bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering.
In a more general sense, I'm currently on autopilot while I figure
myself out a little better. I want to return to graduate school and
learn more, but it's ridiculously difficult to motivate me at
times. Spontaneity proves to be one of the most important concepts
in my life, as it's brought me most of what I have today. If I
don't do things on a whim, sometimes, I don't do them at all.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at solving problems and helping other people
through theirs. I'm always glad to give as much of my time as
necessary to my friends and family when they need my help.
The first things people usually notice about me
It's hard to say, really. I'm only moderately tall, only a little
shy upon first meeting someone, and am fairly typical. I'd hope
people would notice that I'm an open person and you can basically
ask me anything.
I have a pretty introspective way about me, I have to say. I like
reflecting on my self, reflecting on and reconciling the
differences between my feelings and my thoughts.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Slaughterhouse-Five by Vonnegut has been my favorite book since
high school. I like the classics but have found that recently I
tend not to stray much from nonfiction. Recently I read
Freakonomics and King Leopold's Ghost, a book about the Congo Free
State atrocities.
My movie tastes change drastically with my mood; I like anything
from turn-your-brain-off action to sappy love stories depending on
a multitude of internal factors. Coen Brothers movies are
wonderful, especially No Country for Old Men. I'm not a snob when
it comes to movies and don't consider myself "above" a whole
lot.
I listen to a lot of varied music punk/ska to harder rock to
indie/college rock. Lyrics are a big part of why I love music; the
poetry that goes along with the music. Just as examples of my
tastes, here's the obligatory list of bands I love: of Montreal,
Bad Religion, Neko Case (saw her in concert recently!), Tally Hall,
Tegan and Sara, Cake, Tool, Radiohead, the Beatles, David Bowie,
Lou Reed... etc!
I've never been picky when it comes to food. Comfort food is great,
so is trying anything and everything new to me!
As far as television goes I'm a fan of lots of different shows,
many of them sadly defunct. For a short list: Futurama, Mr. Show,
Clone High, Burn Notice, Countdown, Arrested Development, Home
Movies, Law and Order.
The six things I could never do without
Time to relax and put my feet up; the internet and the connections
it provides to my friends back home; my cell phone and its ability
to connect me with a friendly voice when I need it; my financial
security; my freedom to schedule visits home every once in awhile
to see the people I love; love itself.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My future, and the people who may or (sadly) may not be available
to be included in it. Lately I've been thinking about building up a
new circle of friends and maybe even somebody a little closer than
that if I can manage it. I think about tomorrow a lot; what I'll be
doing, how I do it. I suppose I'm a mixture of bursts of
spontaneity and planning in that respect.
As aforementioned, I spend a lot of time in my own head, thinking
about myself, other people, and the world around me. I read pretty
consistently about politics, and am fascinated by topics of gender
studies, philosophy, and psychology. I think a lot about what it
means to be a good male feminist. I think a lot about the dynamics
of being your stereotypical "nice guy" and the pros and cons of it,
though I'm not changing that fact any time soon.
On a typical Friday night I am
Ready to relax for a bit before heading out and seeing a movie or
taking a walk. Nights on the town and nights spent inside watching
moves or listening to music are much enjoyed if spent in good
company.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'll admit whatever, just ask. I'm an open person.
Oh, here's something: I have a blog that I post on regularly. It's
here: http://keithinjersey.blogspot.com Don't expect much, though,
I suppose!
You should message me if
You're curious or if I seem interesting to you. I'm really looking
for someone who finds me interesting and who I can find
interesting; I love debate and just sharing my beliefs, hopes,
dreams, and aspirations with someone else.
