My self-summary
I have my bachelor's degree in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering, and I am working to earn a PhD from Georgia Tech in Nuclear Engineering. I really enjoy math, programming, and nuclear physics. I am also quite passionate about music. I play drums in a band called Courtesy of Frank. I play gigs all around Atlanta with said band, and I collect CDs, always trying to build a bigger, better, more eclectic music collection.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a Nuclear Energy University Programs Fellow with the Computational Reactor and Medical Physics Laboratory at Georgia Tech. Ego-driven embellishments aside, I'm a graduate student. I am currently working to earn a PhD, and I eventually want to be a research scientist or a college professor.
I’m really good at
I am pretty good at math. I enjoy solving complex math problems if I can get my head around them. I'm also pretty good at drums. With my band, I've played all around Atlanta, from bars like Sweetwater Bar and Grill to the Masquerade, The Vinyl, and Wild Bill's.
The first things people usually notice about me
People tell me I look like Jack Black.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite Book
The Once and Future King by T.H. White
This book is simply amazing. It tells the classic fantasy tale of King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, and their mutual lover Guinevere. I've found it to be much more than that, though, as a great statement about war, compassion, and the human condition.

Other books of note are the ones they make you read in school but in the end you realize are great: Crime and Punishment, Catch-22, The Great Gatsby, and the like.

Favorite Band
This band is definitely my favorite group of all time. From prog to metal to blues to rock'n'roll to reggae to even rap, this band has it all. As far as a favorite thing overall, this is near the top. Songs to check out:
Tom Sawyer
Roll the Bones
La Villa Strangiato

Due to an awesome coincidental trip to a music store, I'm currently jamming on
John Butler Trio - Devil Woman

Other bands that are super cool: Led Zeppelin, 311, Muse, System of a Down, Men at Work, and Courtesy of Frank.

Favorite Show
The tales of Dexter Morgan as he leads his double life intrigue me. Is he a hero? Is he a villain? He's certainly dreamy. Even if the last season was tragically terrible, there are things about this show that make me want to stay with it. It's not about the destination; it's the journey!

Other shows I enjoy: Breaking Bad, Family Guy, American Dad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel
The six things I could never do without
My drum set, my FORTRAN compiler, my textbooks, the Atlanta Braves, my CD collection, and then the obvious friends and family.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I often think of the Russian cartoon "Shoe and Shoelace" and ponder whether one is truly useless without the other.
On a typical Friday night I am
My weekends vary. Most of the time, I go out to eat with a group of friends, and from there we go see movies, go bowling, or venture around Atlanta, trying to find new spots to check out. Other Fridays I'm gigging out. I jam with my band and make sure everything's tight. Then we head to the venue, and get ready. Then the lights go down. We proceed to throw down like no one has ever seen.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am quite the wimp around ladybugs.
