I am silly, a reader, and outdoorsy.

My Self-Summary

I have to write something in this box or I can't save the rest of the page. Really, just read the other boxes.

What I’m doing with my life

After taking a few (or more than a few) years off from school, and working in a field that I know I never want to go back to (nothing illicit), I decided to go back and finally finish.

I am a student at Montclair State majoring in biology. I don't know what I want to do with this specifically, but I think a lot about teaching middle school or high school. Everyone has had 'that teacher' that made a subject matter -- it would be cool if I could be that to some kid.

I’m really good at

I am very flexible -- socially, I mean. I tend to be open and agreeable to whatever new activity comes along.

For the longest time, I've considered myself a die-hard hiker, with some camping thrown in. I like rock climbing, but I am terrible at bouldering, which means it is either an all day activity - due to the time it takes to set up outside - or climbing inside at the Gravity Vault.

On my recent trip to Colorado to visit my brother, I discovered that I LOVE mountain biking. Unfortunately, I discovered this by borrowing his GF's bike, which left me back home with a large investment to make. So now, I am learning my new craft at different parks around NJ. I have so far been to Allaire a few times, Mercer County Park, Lewis Morris... I think that is it. If you are into mountain biking and patient, or you want to learn together, it would be awesome if you wanted to hang out, even if just as friends.

The first things people usually notice about me

Ready for a cliche? Ok, the first thing people notice about me is my eyes! I know, everyone says it. Seriously though.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: the Bible, The River Sutra, The Decameron, To Kill a Mockingbird, anything by Jane Austen(so cliche, I know... but in my own defense, I liked her before all the movies started coming out). Right now I am reading "Rosewater and Soda Bread," which is about three Iranian refugees trying to make a life in Ireland. I guess I am on an 'Iran' kick, because I just finished The Kite Runner. I generally avoid books that are too 'trendy,' but this one really deserves the hype.

Movies: Most of my favorite movies are classics, like My Fair Lady, Desk Set, Pillow Talk, The Lion in Winter, Roman Holiday, Giant, The Taming of the Shrew. I also sadly admit to some silly movies like A Knight's Tale, Clueless, Ten Things I Hate About You. I am absolutely terrified of horror movies (I can't even watch the commercials) but I liked The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Omen (the original from the 70's).

Music: Given my choice, I mostly listen to Classic Rock, Country, or 80's metal (Iron Maiden!!!!). The only music I refuse to listen to is Electronica- if you want to call that music.

Food: I usually eat pretty healthy when I am cooking for myself. When I am going out to dinner I like ethnic food... I used to like Thai before it got too trendy. There is a place in Montclair called Mesob- it is Ethiopian - great food and a cool experience. Last weekend I went Moroccan, and had the most awesome mint tea. Seriously

The six things I could never do without

My iPhone, sunshine, fresh air, my brothers, my laptop ( I just got a Macbook Pro- yea!), and the pursuit of knowledge.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend a lot of time thinking about my classes, obviously.

I moved into a new house this summer, so for a while that took up a lot of time and effort, but things are settling down now.

I try not to think about how much time I wasted getting to this point in my life, but it has made me who I am. If I had made different choices, who knows where I would be, but that is a double-edged sword. I love my life the way it is.

On a typical Friday night I am

Probably studying, sadly.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

ummm...

You should message me if

You would rather do something active than watch TV or sit on the beach indefinitely. Don't get me wrong, I probably waste my fair share of time vegging out and just chilling... I just don't want my day to revolve around NBC, ABC, or HBO.
