What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I do public health work. I just finished a 2 year stint in Zambia (working in Maternal Health)...trying to keep women alive. Most recently, I was in Kenya working with UCSF and the CDC as a consultant on some HIV stuff. Before this, the scope of my work was mainly jail-based. I respect social justice.

As of now, I am with the SF Adult Probation Reentry Unit, coordinating programs and services for prisoners and trying to make things better. I AM NOT A PROBATION OFFICER.

I am a bit of a public health/health justice nerd. I am ok with this.

I am trying my best to live...
to make the world a little bit better and to gain perspective on what is important.
I am traveling a lot. I am seeing a lot. I am laughing a lot. And I am trying to have no regrets. So far, so good.

Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
my bike
my crazy creek chair
poetry slams
being able to thank the inmates I work with for something they did and being able to say to them "I appreciate you."
the sound of summer and the smell of spring
animals with human names like Michael, Kenneth, Greg, Linda, Barbara, Shannon.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Syncing my ipod. Why Africa moves so slowly and how interesting people are. How amazing life is. Tofu. Sustainable environments. Biogas. Tahoe. How we impact and how we must, as a collective society, care more. My next trip. How people can drink glasses of milk, and why they would want to. My disappointment in international aid and development. If my tortoises in Zambia have had babies. Madagascar and my village there. Health care in jails and prisons. My mind also wanders to Herakut and street art from time to time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It depends on which continent I am on. Most Fridays, I am thinking about Tahoe. Or a happy hour.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My mood ring rarely changes colors.

I bike through Duboce Park just so I can see the dogs.

I am suspicious of slow walkers, people who under dress for the weather, people who are covered in animal fur, and folks who are addicted to Jamba Juice.

I have exes...some are boys and some are girls.

I work at the Hall of Justice, but I'm not a super hero...or a cop.

I like my coffee black.
My chocolate dark.
And my whiskey chilled.
